A small boy raced across the labor camp, his shaggy black hair flowing behind him. "Momma! Poppa!" He yelled, trying his best to reach the burning hut. A storm trooper caught the child, preventing him from reaching his parents. The man hugged him as the little boy screamed as he watched his parents burn to death.
Orion sat up, gasping for air. He still had nightmares about that fateful night. The storm trooper later helped the boy escape the labor camp, which resulted in death. His name was Ras Hijan. He had two children.
A groan was heard next to Orion. He glanced over to his left. A man with dark brown hair was laying in a cot, bandages wrapping around his head. The stranger opened his brown eyes, and looked at Orion. "What? Did I talk in my sleep again?" He said tiredly, an accent evident in his voice.
"No, I just woke up. FYI I have no clue who you are or where I am. Please, help me." He asked. The man blinked at him. "I'm Cassian Andor. And we are in the medbay. Are you new here?" He asked, sitting up carefully. "I'm Orion. And no, I was forced to come here." He spat, his golden eyes narrowing. He glanced at his head again. "What happened?" He asked.
Cassian touched his forehead, wincing slightly. "My ship was shot out of the sky during a mission. I think I fell and cracked my skull?" He said shrugging. "I don't really remember what happened after that."
He looked at Orion. "Why are you here?" He questioned. "I was shot by Akana Odar." He growled, his side throbbing. "Akana? Seriously?" Cassian asked surprised. "She was never the type to shoot someone. Ever since I knew her, she always got uncomfortable around weapons."
Orion didn't say anything. He stared at him, his eyes wide. "How long has she been a rebel?" He whispered, his heart racing. "I don't know, a couple years? She disappeared for a year or so, why are you-" Cassian said as Orion clutched his fist. "Akana betrayed me! That little-" he began to say, getting out of bed, before wincing, his wound shooting spikes of pain in his side. He looked down at his naked torso, a bandage applied to his wound.
The door slid open, and in stepped a beautiful young woman with blonde hair. "Hello Orion Cortez. I am-"
"Look here lady, I'm busy trying to kill someone. We'll talk later." He said, pushing her aside with his shoulder. She pulled out a blaster, and aimed it at his head. "Look here pal, I am Princess Ashira Maydar. You will listen to what I have to say." She said smirking.Orion turned around, looking at Ashira. "Wow, great act there Princess." He said clapping slowly. "I've already been shot once, you gonna make that two times?" He said, obviously unimpressed.
'Maybe she WILL shoot you in the head. You wouldn't have to work for the rebels.' A voice said in his head. You have a point, Mr. Voice. He thought back.
She looked at him confused, her blaster wavering slightly. He quickly kicked her hand, causing the blaster to fly right out, and he caught the weapon easily. He then aimed her own gun at her. "Rule number one Princess. Never point a gun at me. I'll just take it away. Rule number two, don't act like that with me. I have a great aim." He said, resting his finger on the trigger. The girl gulped, obviously not prepared.
"You wouldn't shoot a princess, would you?"
"I would, I've done it before."She yelped, and Cassian stumbled foreword. "Ok Orion, don't shoot her."
"Why not?" He asked, his eyes never leaving Ashira's silver ones, "she's being annoying."The same boy from before ran to him. "Hey Orion! It's me Andreas- wait don't shoot!" He said, his face full of panic. Orion snorted, and rolled his eyes. "Hey Andreas. You're the guy who helped me the other day, right?" He asked.
Andreas's face lit up. "Yeah! That was me! You passed out before I could finish talking, it seems like Akana hit you pretty good." He said, looking at his side. The bandages were beginning to turn crimson. "Great. I'm bleeding." He mumbled, unfazed by the blood.A man walked up. "Hey! Get back in there!" He said, trying his best to push Orion back into the room. He didn't move an inch. "Why?" Orion asked.
"Because you're injured."
"So?"
"You are supposed to be in a bacta tank!"
"I've been through worse. Just give me some painkillers and I'll be good in 30." He assured him.The man sighed. "Look, you'll only be in there for two hours. It wouldn't take long, unless....."
he trailed off, looking at Orion. "Unless what?!" Practically everyone shouted. "Unless you have old injuries that you managed to cover up." He said, before quickly pulling up a pant leg.An ugly burn appeared, his leg an ugly shade of black and red. "Watch it crazy man!" Orion said, pulling his leg back. The man watched him. "Get him." He said simply before two men grabbed his arms and forced him back in. "Hey! Watch it- Ow!" He yelled as he bumped his head on the doorway.
Later, Cassian and Orion were led to the bacta tank. Cassian stepped in easily, and slipped on the mask. Orion, on the other hand, went in kicking and screaming. Well, not screaming, mostly threatening the three men in front of him. He have fairly bad experiences with masks and being submerged in liquids when he was younger. "Hey, just put on the mask!" Some guy yelled at him.
He glared at the man. "I'm sorry, but I hate bacta tanks!" He growled at him. "Look kid, bacta tanks help you heal. Don't you know that?" The doctor said, looking at Orion. "Yes, I know that. I also know that someone can easily stop the flow of oxygen and either watch me choke or drown to death." He whispered angrily.
The three men and Cassian watched him in silence. Cassian spoke up. "Someone- someone tried to kill you once in a bacta tank?" He asked gently. "Yes, and I almost did die, but some girl found me and helped me out. A storm trooper shot the poor girl afterwards." He said, his anger replaced with sadness. He looked down, his eyes closed.
"How about this- we guard the door while you two are in the bacta tank, and then we will let you right out. How's that?" The doctor suggested, his crinkled blue eyes looking at the young man. Orion sighed. "Fine." He mumbled, and lowered his head. The doctor slipped the mask over his face, and oxygen immediately began to flow through the tubes.
Soon, the tube was shut, and liquid filled the tank. Orion looked around, Cassian had already fallen asleep. The doctor sat down in a chair across from him. Orion relaxed. I guess their keeping their promise. He thought as he floated in the liquid, before sleep overtook him.
