"Jersey Devil Refinery?" Charmane asked softly.
"Yeah, I use to fix the equipment here." John was driving down the asphalt road. Passing the gate they drove further in.
"Oh wow." Charmane whispered.
Standing in front of the truck was another group. Three females, four males and chaos behind them.
Stopping the truck John just let out a tired sigh.
"What do we do?" Charmane asked turning towards him.
The other group seemed to notice them and everyone turned around guns cocked.
"Woah!" Charmane raised her hands while in the car.
John let out another sigh.
"Out the car, hands where I can see them!" The older black woman yelled out. Her face stern and her voice just as much so.
"Do we get out?" Charmane whispered, but John was already stepping out and raising his hands.
Charmane just did the same.
"We were just here for some gas." John said as he stared toward her but not in her eyes.
The woman stared a bit harder before nodding.
"Well as you can see you're out of luck." She said lowering her gun.
The rest seemed to follow suit.
"Okay well we'll just be going." John started, but stopped as Charmane walked forward.
"Murphy?" She said softly.
The man in questioned turned around and stared back, he looked shocked.
"W-what?" He let out as he stared at her. "They took you to another facility, what are you doing here?"
The rest of the group and John looked completely confused.
Charmane seemed to glance around and stared back at Murphy opening her mouth to speak. Then a phone started ringing before she could.
Flinching everyone turned towards it, Charmane was mildly concerned she hadn't noticed it before hand.
One of the man walked to the booth before answering. Charmane stared for a second but turned back to Murphy.
"We have a lot to talk about... do you trust these people?" Her eyes held a different look, one Murphy had only seen once before.
"I-" he started.
"We have a lot of puppies and kittens heading our way!"the woman yelled out as she turned to the zombies as did everyone else.
"Convince your group to follow us, John has a place we can crash." She said this turning just as another member was running up with gas jugs.
Her eyes met his as he ran to their truck, things seemed to slow down until she averted her eyes.
She turned back to John and nodded, he climbed into his truck.
"Convince them." Was all she said as she hurried over to John's truck.
Everyone in their trucks Charmane turned to John, "They're going to follow us."
He let out another tired sigh, but didn't ask why. He was good at doing as told without asking questions.
It's how he survived so long.
