Nothing Will Tear Us Apart…

The three sat in total silence with only the fire in the hearth to give account for sound.  There was warmth to the room that had little to do with the fire but much to do with what had just happened. Cassandra was still glistening in the aftermath of the dream, her eyes still more golden than the usual hue of cobalt blue.  What they’d experience was without explanation and should’ve been absolutely impossible. The irony was that being the servant to two masters was considered impossible as well, so really, this shouldn’t be the most surprising thing to her. As she stared into the flames, completely distracted and enthralled by their dance, she chuckled inwardly at how her total existence as a vampire and everything Julius, Marcus and her Succubus had introduce her to should have been impossible. So frankly, she was living in a world of mistaken impossibilities. It was a specter to laugh at,but there had been many things that had occurred that she’d wished were impossible. Hana was one of them.  Had she permanently destroyed Hana and would she ever awaken from her slumber?

Julius had done his best to restore her, but Cassandra had taken so much blood; her heart barely beat. He was about to give up when she’d held Hana’s hand with her uninjured hand  and helped Julius to call her.  Somehow, it had worked. Hana still slept, but she was not gone from her as yet. All Cassandra could do now was wait and hope that she would arise soon.

“For that, I am sorry. All these centuries and my temper remains the same…”  The succubus whispered from within her. Cassandra felt her words on the tip of her tongue and knew them before they’d been uttered. It was amazing to feel her so close to her and it was only possible because of her acceptance.  Cassandra wasn’t sure how things will turn out from here on in, but she knew that she would not be doing them without her succubus and her masters.

Her eyes darted up fleetly at the distinct intake of breaths she heard. Julius and Marcus were staring back at her, still recovering from their shudder. She frowned and shifted on the fur rug that she sat upon near the fire. Marcus still sat on the edge of the bed and Julius was slouched down in the arm chair opposite her.  The heat in both of their eyes made her breath caught and a flush of heat rise up through her skin. They were indeed hers these two and she belonged to them in every which way. Again, they shuddered.

“You do not know how long I’ve waited to feel this Cassandra…but I’d hoped that it was not shared.” Julius said, his eyes golden and glinting back at her. Marcus was watching her but Julius’ words had made him look away. Cassandra had caught the expression before he could hide it. Regret. It had to be regret, but for what? For taking half of her heart from Julius? For making a mess of things when he was blinded by his lust for her and his hate for his brother? Or maybe he simply regretted ever meeting her.  She glanced back at Julius and her breath stuttered at the anger she saw there.

“Julius, what is done is done. I am sorry that I made things-”

“You are not to blame Cassandra!” He said through clenched teeth.

“But I-”

“All of this is his fault!” Julius accused, stabbing a finger in Marcus’ direction.

“Ju-“ Cassandra tried again; getting to her knees.

My fault?” Marcus exclaimed; shooting up from the bed.  Julius spun around and squared his shoulders for the fight that was about to commence. These two had serious issues that they obviously couldn’t manage to sort through without grabbing at each other’s throats. Already they were inching closer to each other as they exchanged horrible words. Cassandra had seen enough.

“Oh just shut up the two of you!” She screamed and my, wasn’t she happy to see their shocked demeanor staring back at her.

“I have had just about enough of this civil war and I hate being the reason that you two are fighting. Yes, I know that I am not the only reason, but my existence and role in both of your lives haven’t really helped this situation.” She got to her feet and adjusted her robe.
