There was a fear in her that made her believe that she would not be strong enough for this; a bitter chill inside that left her quivering. She had lost the will to go back but now her father had made it impossible to really let go. Maybe what he had said was truth. It was so hard to tell now when her mind was literally in shadows laden with snow and ice. Amelia had to shake it away and believe him. If it was one person her father had never attempted to deceive and truly cared for, it was her. She could believe in him.

With hands still covered in Cassandra’s blood and her other half still choking on blood that had turned black from her father’s toxins, she took a deep breath and pulled her thawing bones from the prison of the bed. She stumbled and Jasire was just there to catch her.

“There, there love. Papa has you…” He murmured as he braced her till she found her legs.

Amelia looked back at Cassandra; still she lay with eyes closed from her weakness. Cassandra needed her and she was not going to abandon her now; they were all that each other had. Nothing in this world was theirs when it could be taken away so easily, but to each other, they belonged and nothing could take that away. For her, Amelia will fight and maybe she would recover as well from this depression.

“Amelia, you must hurry. Do not let me be the bane of all your hatred; take what you need and awaken.” Jasire said as he pressed her head against his chest and closed his eyes.

Amelia took a deep breath and felt no further need to hesitate or think on the matter. She closed her eyes and drew on her own powers to call forth her true nature. Her skin which was once a light kiss of blue began to take a shimmering gold. She felt her claws growing out; black and glimmering with the secretion of her poison. Her hair which was already dark mixed randomly with highlights of true gold now shone; thick and healthy down her hips. Growls raked from her throat with every exhale of her hurried breath and Jasire could feel the sudden change in her mind’s atmosphere. Good, she was going to fight.

The air went from humid to warm as the change took over his daughter. Jasire felt it calling to his own demonic aura and he answered. The demon Yacabil stripped himself of his human guise and gave his daughter all the power she needed. He had not fed in vain upon the three whores from the hall way. This was the reason he had; to feed her. Black sand lifted from his skin in thick wicks of flames and surrounded them. Amelia stuck her claws into his sides and Yacabil roared from the necessary intrusion. He felt her drawing on his strength with a savage hunger that would drain a mere human but not him. The black flames stabbed into her body and she threw her head back with a throat ripping bellow as power tore into her body and burned away the ice that had encased itself inside her.

Somewhere in the forest, she could feel the stone ring of fire ignite and blaze to life once more. The darkness of her world was cut away as her sun pierced the steely sky. Amelia was beginning to feel alive again, and what made it all the better were the memories that her father showed her as she fed. She saw him answering Simone’s call and feeding on her. That memory alone was a delicious meal though she would have to scold him later for taking her like that and nearly killing her. She could see that they had grown close and saw them together in the halls of Uri’s castle conversing, but her father locked the thought away and pushed her on. She would remember it just because he didn’t allow her to see it. Julius and Marcus, the men she would spend all eternity loving were there; fighting for her and bearing her father’s temper when he exploded on them. She could feel Yacabil’s craving to drain them dry. She growled at him but felt he found humor in her disgruntlement.

They had indeed come for and they had fought for her. Why had she allowed Uri to break her like that and make her believe that she was alone now? She knew that they would come but had lost faith too quickly. She felt stupid and embarrassed. Now she wanted out of this prison and desperately to feed. Her hunger was alive and she would quell it, because she saw the treat that lied at Simone’s feet awaiting the promised death. That was all she needed.
