{2#The odd shoes.}
She laughed. Then his laughed followed after. My eyes dazed at the couple in front of me. I didn't understand why it had turn out this way. The girl fed the boy a piece of chocolate. Then giggled. It was an utter disappointment in my eyes.
I looked down at my lunch. Seeing it as comfort food, something that wouldn't betray me. I opened my teddy grahams and took one of the teddy bears out. It was missing an ear and a leg. Yet it had a smile plastered on its face. I chucked it into my mouth; not caring whether it tasted bad or not, I kept chewing.
I looked up to see the couple was talking about their future date. It disgusted me a bit.
"Then I'll take you out on a walk on the beach." The guy said.
"We'll hold hands." The girl proposed.
"Under the moonlight." He continued.
"That sounds so romantic." She replied.
If I only had earplugs. I sighed and put my head down on the table. When will this drabble every end? They kept talking on and on about the oddest fantasies. Like they're going do everything they listed.
"Hey, Maddie, what's wrong?" The girl asked involuntarily.
"Nothing." I replied, "Just keep talking about your date with your boyfriend."
"Well, we were, but I wanted to ask you whether it'd be better to eat at a restaurant near the beach or a park. But you seem out of it. Are you sure you're all right, Maddie?"
"I'm fine, Tami. I just want to sleep a little."
"Oh ok."
I'm not fine, actually. I'm exhausted. Can we skip to another topic? All this fluffy love is bad for my health.
Now you guys are thinking what the freak is going on? We all know that Tami is a cheerleader now. And what do cheerleaders need? A boyfriend. And now Tami has gotten one, Tommy. Coincidentally, they're names start with a "T" and have the some ending rhyme. But enough about that. They met. Well Tami says they met when Tami was practicing her routines while Tommy was playing basketball. Yes, Tommy is on the varsity basketball team. It was love at first sight as Tami puts it. But she had way too many loves at first sight. So how is this her true love?
They flirted. They laughed. They tickled. They did the most disgusting fluff of them all. They kissed. Made-out. Whatever disgusting thing you call that. I almost blurted out an "EW!", but I turned around trying to get rid of the image inside of my head. I shook my head a little violently.
"Is there something wrong, Maddie?"
"Alex? Oh, it's nothing." He had a curious odd look on his face.
"Well, it's them." My head titled towards Tami and Tommy.
"Oh. I see."
He then yelled out loudly, so Tami and Tommy could hear. "Go get a room!" The couple was startled and presumed eating lunch.
He said softly to me. "You happy now?" I nodded.
Alex sighed. Then sat next to me almost creaking the bench from his weight. He ruffled his dark brown hair in irritation. His golden eyes showed a distasteful flavor. I put my arm around his neck and let it rest on his shoulder.
"So what's up, Lexxie? Tennis not going to well for you?"
"Don't call me 'Lexxie'!" he retorted.
He nodded yes. "The coach has been making the team run laps more often."
He grunted, "Man, it's tiring. I wonder what happened to tennis. We're not on the track team."
"It's not so bad. At least, you won't be exhausted when you have to play singles."
We laughed. We talked. But didn't really understand each other. I looked back behind me. Tami didn't seem to care about me... It sullen my heart a bit. So her relationship is more important than friendship? I looked at Alex. Seeing that he was trying to steal my lunch, I punch him lightly in the arm. He jerked away from the food. But some things haven't changed a bit.
After 6th period, history, I headed home. I shuffled. I didn't speed walk like usual. I paced myself. I passed the house on the corner where a dog was waiting behind the gate for his master. The dog barked at me. Stupid chihuahuas. I was drifting from the neighbors who were walking home as well. A little boy around ten years old talked to the two girls. It appeared as if he was waiting for them. He said something and walked with them to their house. I walked towards my destination, home. But paused once I saw what they were doing. The girl tried to open the door of her house. I assume was locked. So the most odd thing they did in front of other people was take off their window's windshield or bug net protector. They slid open the window. Then the boy jumped onto the flower trough which was hanging on the wall under the window. After that the girl pushed the boy into the room and laughed. The other girl yelled at the boy to open the door for them.
Me? I was shocked. How come they don't have a key. I reached into my backpack to find my house key and open the door of my house. I walked in. Closed the door behind me. Then locked it. First I uttered an I'm home, then I put my shoes away on the shoe rack. And headed towards the kitchen to get a snack. But saw my big brother snacking on the sofa while being a lazy bum watching TV.
"Mattie!" I yelled.
He nodded and said, "Yeah, hey, Maddie." And continued watching the game.
"You're eating my cake!" I ran over and tackled him for it. In the end, he ate it all. My precious fruit cake from Lily's Bakery.
I laid my stomach on my bed facing the wall. I grabbed my plush pillow and threw it in the air then caught it. Then I turned over and looked at the ceiling. White and plain. Nothing interesting there. I closed my eyes but snapped them open once I heard the phone ringing. I sat up and then left my room in my pajamas to check who called. Tami called. I was very happy that she was acting like a friend once again. Or so I thought.
