Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a beautiful girl with hair as dark as night and eyes that sparkled like sapphires, was running to school. Why running, you may ask? Was she a track star or a cross country runner? No. She was simply late for school as she had been so many times before. When she finally made it to the entrance of her classroom, she heaved a huge breath and stepped in. All eyes darted on her, piercing through her skin. Anxiety caught up with her, and she began to breathe nervously. Her teacher, Ms. Bustier, sighed and motioned for her to come up to her desk. The room was quite large, Ms. Bustier's desk in the front, and five rows of seats laying out across the rest of the room. The five rows each had two sections making two perfectly neat columns.

"Marinette, this is the third time this week that you've been late. I am very disappointed." Marinette's angered teacher spoke sternly.

"I know, and I am very sorry. I just didn't get much sleep last night." Marinette told her, trying to come up with something that sounded better. It was the truth, but sometimes the truth was not good enough.

"If you didn't get much sleep you should have arrived much earlier." Ms. Bustier said with a sour look. "Now please return to your seat, I will be expecting to see you after class so I may give you a proper punishment."

"Just do it now Ms. Bustier!" Chloe Bourgeois yelled, her long blonde hair swaying perfectly. "You should punish Maritrash in front of the whole class!"

Marinette's face flushed. She quickly scurried to her seat and tried to hide the embarrassment that consumed her. Her best friend Alya gave her a sympathetic rub on the back. Alya had long, beautiful ombré hair that cascaded down her back. She was a kind girl with a good demeanor, yet that didn't help cheer her friend up.

After class had ended, Marinette walked up to Ms. Bustier's desk. She was surprised when Adrien Agreste walked up there as well. If the situation had taken place a few months ago, her face would have turned red, but she didn't feel that way towards Adrien anymore. Okay, maybe she did, but that wasn't the point! Ms. Bustier turned and faced them. "Adrien, Marinette, this is the third time this week that you two have both been late."

Marinette turned to Adrien in surprise. "You were late as well?" She marveled.

"I arrived a little while before you did." He explained.

"Yes, and I am very disappointed in both of you!" Ms. Bustier exclaimed. "You two have the best grades and put in a lot of effort, but that will all suffer if you do not show up on time! Now tell me, why were you late?"

Blush blossomed over both of the teens' faces. Remembrance crept into their minds'.

Chat invited me to go to the Eiffel Tower with him! We stayed there until 2:00, so I didn't get much sleep. I can't tell my teacher that though. She won't believe a single word of it! Marinette thought nervously.

Adrien's thoughts were quite similar. I invited Marinette to the Eiffel Tower, but I can't tell Marinette and Ms. Bustier that I'm Chat Noir!

"Well, I want an answer!" Their teacher demanded..

"Uh, you go first Adrien." Marinette offered, trying to think of an excuse.

"No, no, you can go Marinette, I insist!" Adrien replied laughing nervously.

"Uh, well, um, you see, I was staying up late to um, work on a design and I uh, I didn't realize how late it was, so I sort of um, I fell asleep at like 3:00. Then I slept in and woke up half an hour after school had started." Marinette told her teacher bluntly.

Adrien knew this was a lie, but he wasn't about to get his princess busted. "I was uh, modeling late, and I uh, ended up going to sleep at 3:00, and I uh, I slept in, and then I was late."
