That was when the akuma had escaped her grasp.

That was when she revealed herself to Chat.

That was when he hugged her and told her that they would fix it together.

That was when they fought and fought until their knees gave out.

That was when they could not defeat the akuma. No, instead Marinette's transformation came off, and she was captured and taken to Hawkmoth, the devious man behind all of these akumas. And there she was. Hung in chains, next to Hawkmoth.

"So, Ladybug," Hawkmoth spoke to the weak girl. "Chat Noir loves you, yes?"

Marinette didn't speak. Hawkmoth scoffed. "Not feeling very talkative? Well, I can fix that."

He walked over to a lever and pulled it roughly. Suddenly, a powerful, electric shock zapped through Marinette. She let out a loud and shrill scream. The shock continued. Marinette felt as if someone was ripping her body apart harshly, piece by piece. The pain she felt was so indescribable that she wished it on no one, not even Hawkmoth himself. Was that what it felt like to die? How could something hurt so bad without killing her? Suddenly, the shock abruptly stopped. Marinette fell to her knees, her chained arms hanging above her head. Darkness threatened to take over her vision. She was hanging on the edge of death, her hand slipping from life's. If she let go, she would lose everything. Alya, Nino, her parents, her friends, Chat. The boy that caused her so much joy.

"Marinette!" His voice rang through her ears suddenly. She forced herself to bob her head up, drool slipping out of her mouth. What she saw was a bruised cat, holding a baton. He held a fighting stance in front of her.

"Kitty..." She murmured before her head fell once again. Her limbs felt like jelly, for she could barely move. She felt a leather covered hand stroke her cheek softly.

"I will get you out of here, Princess. I swear I will, even if I die." Chat whispered in her ear, angry streams of tears trailing down his face.

Tears fell from Marinette's eyes as well. "Ngh... No..." She slurred, trying to hold consciousness in its place.

His hand left her cheek, his warm feeling slowly fading from her. Chat faced Hawkmoth. "You will pay for ever laying a finger on her." Chat hissed.

Hawkmoth smirked. "Alright then, I've got you here now. You can fight me, but only if you beat me will I let you take her back." He told the fuming cat, and with that, Chat pounced.

His baton slammed against the wall as Hawkmoth swiftly dodged his attack. The villain advanced on Chat as fast as a bullet. He landed a punch and a rough kick to Chat's stomach. Chat rolled on to the floor, the cool cement scraping against his face. Chat stood up shakily. He would fight for her. The girl he had fallen in love with twice. Hawkmoth hit him once again, landing hit after hit. Chat slid against the ground once more lifting his head up. He felt himself losing hope. He couldn't do it. Not without Ladybug. That was all he was after all. Nothing more than a mere sidekick. A sidekick who was nothing without the real hero.

"Go...Kitty..." He heard softly. His body perked up, and he looked up to see Marinette staring at him with pride in her eyes. Tears pooled in his eyes as she spoke. "I...believe...in...you...I....love....you..." She whispered hoarsely.

That was all he needed. Chat stood. "Getting back up Chat Noir?" Hawkmoth asked tauntingly.

Chat ran at Hawkmoth, jabbing the man in the chest. Hawkmoth grunted as he fell to the floor. He could see the focus that Chat had stored in himself. That's how much he loved Marinette. As Hawkmoth stood back up, Chat punched him, kicked him, socked him, hurt him. He beat Hawkmoth to the bone, feeling Marinette's words power him. And then, Hawmoth fell. And he didn't get back up. Eyes closed, pulse slowing, he whispered his last words to Chat. "So you've done it. You beat me. You saved her. You saved everyone. Including me."
