HERE IS CHAPTER 1 YAY ENJOY!! x
~
I rushed around the space of my room trying to gather all of my belongings at once to put into my suitcases. Today was May 18th, the day I move to New York to pursue my dreams. Sadly, that means college, but on the bright side I'll be doing what I love most. Writing. I love to write. From writing story's, to poems, to comics, to even my old high school newspapers and articles. It's when I'm most in my element.
"Tori!", I heard my mom yell down the stairs to the basement where my room is. Having a room in the basement might sound disgusting but it's actually a really nice area. We have a family room down here and an attached room where I can practice dance. So it's really not all that bad.
I started to zone out thinking about how much fun it was going to be making new friends and living on my own in my cute little apartment. As much as I'm going to miss my family, I'm definitely excited for this change in my life.
I heard someone clear their throat from behind me which caused me to drop the stack of books I had in hand.
My mother was leaned against the door frame with a slight smirk on her face, "So clumsy", she giggled.
"I called your name, you know," she said.
"Sorry, I've been kind of zoning out all morning. I can't stop thinking about everything that's happening. It feels like just yesterday I was starting freshman year of high school," I sighed.
I picked up the books from the floor, carefully placing them into a box. She hadn't answered me yet, when I looked up at her she was watching me closely. I noticed that she started to tear up.
"Aww mom," I walked over to her and pulled her into a hug. I felt a couple of tears hit my shoulder and that's when I realized I was still in my pajamas. She pulled back and held me at arms length.
"My baby is all grown up. Pretty sure your father and I told you not to grow up too fast," she chuckled then wiped the rest of her tears off her face.
"I promise I'm going to visit as much as possible. It's a good thing Orlando and New York have the same time zones so I'll call you whenever I'm not in class," I smiled at her.
I love my mom very much. I've always been closer with her than I am with my father. She's the one who would be there to help me through my high school years, and let me tell you, they were rough. She treated me like we were best friends. We did everything that best friends would do with each other. I'm definitely going to miss our late night talks and movies nights and sneaking out of the house at 2 in the morning to get pancakes. Speaking of best friends, I really need to call Sam and Ethan before I leave.
"Alright sweetie, I'll let you get back to packing. I actually meant to tell you that Andrew has a surprise for you. Just come up when you're finished," she kissed my forehead and left to go back upstairs.
Andrew is my 16 year old brother. He's not the most pleasant. Ever since I walked in on him and his "girlfriend" having sex on the couch in our living room just gives me nasty images every time I look at him. Let's just say I don't sit on that couch anymore. He's annoying as hell, but I love him nonetheless.
I did my best to quickly finish what was left of my packing. I then got dressed into a cropped sweater and some high waisted shorts and white hightop converse. I threw my long, brown hair into a ponytail and put on some light makeup. It was going to be a 16 hour drive up to New York so I wanted to be as comfortable as possible. And of course my parents insisted on driving up there instead of flying, much to my dismay.
I went upstairs and walked into the kitchen pulling out a bagel and popping it in the toaster. I pulled out my iPhone and sent a text into the group chat with Sam and Ethan.
