Nico POV/

Percy was the last person I expected to see when I walked into the Chaos cabin. Annabeth was holding his hand, gazing onto Percy's face with deep pain. I cleared my throat.

"You needed me, Annabeth?"

She looked up. "I-Is he dead?"

I walked a few steps toward Percy, oblivious of the outcome. His skin was paler than mine, and his breathing unsteady. It scared me to see the person who defeated Kronos look as weak as this. I gulped. Closing my eyes, I took my index finger and placed it very gently on Percy's temple. His pulse was extremely weak, almost too weak to be alive.

I sighed. "He's not dead Annabeth, just..... sleeping."

Yes, sleeping eternally.

Annabeth flashed her dagger out. "Gaia..." she hissed. "Leave, you are not welcome here."

Gaia laughed, and her earthy form appeared before us. Silly daughter of the wisdom goddess, I'm only telling you the truth. Care to watch the demonstration?

She flicked her wrist and we saw Percy moan and groan in pain and terror. Annabeth looked shattered. "S-Stop! Just please, l-leave Percy!" She cried.

Gaia smirked. Foolish demigod, I will never leave Perseus. I will always follow him, showing him his worst fears and pains. He bought it upon himself when he followed you into Tartarus. There he released all his fears and I was the one who absorbed them. She turned to me. You know how it feels, for you have been there as well. It is a shame that you side with these incompetent fools, son of Hades.

She flicked her hand and instantaneously, the I felt entirely drained of my energy. I collapsed onto Percy, the tiredness taking over.
