Episode 11: Tracks

Slowly, both figures made it closer to each other, one of white and one of black. Reinhard and Sebastian soon crossed paths, looking at each other from the corner of their eyes.

While passing Reinhard, Sebastian reached for Yukinae's hand and held it tightly. Yukinae was ready to protest, but after inspecting the situation, she kept her mouth shut.

'A vampire with a human, that's trouble, I can't allow him to leave with her,' Reinhard said in his head.

He stopped shortly after they crossed ways, but Sebastian continued walking until he heard Reinhard say, "Hey you there..... I'm afraid that I can't allow you to leave with that girl, for no matter how I look at it, it's still apart of my job as vampire hunter to exterminate any vampire I come across."

Sebastian turned around with a smile on his face, "You people are so naive, just tell me, why do you think I'm a vampire?"

Reinhard completely turned around in order to face Sebastian, "Because a wolf's sense of smell is very sensitive, especially to vampires,and judging by your scent, you my friend, are no human."

"Well, it looks like someone needs to go get their nose checked, cause I'm no vampire..... Plus there's no way in heaven, I'd give her up that easily."

"Oh really? If that's the case, then die," Reinhard unsheathed his sword, sending out a burst of his power.

"I'm slightly impressed, but you'll need more than that," Sebastian let go of Yukinae's hand and said to her, "Find somewhere to hide, and don't come out until I say so."

Yukinae nodded as she obeyed him, running to the nearest alley.

Reinhard appeared in front of Sebastian with the sword, ready to attack but it was interrupted by Sebastian's daggers. Sebastian evaded a kick from his opponent and approached him once again with the blades in his hands.

Clash after clash, hit after hit, several minutes have gone and there was yet to be a winner. On both sides of the street, each fighter was breathing heavily, exhausted.

That's when it happened, after one more faithful clash, Reinhard's sword broke, and Sebastian's daggers were knocked out of his hands.

Reinhard's eyes changed and his nails grew longer as he went berserk.

He dashed to Sebastian, gripping his neck and pushing him back to the nearest building.

Tighter and tighter he squeezed Sebastian's throat, until blood was forcing his way out of his mouth.

Sebastian's vision blurred occasionally, and the only thing he could see was the eyes of the monster taking his life.

That changed when the sound of a gun echoed in the air, and a fierce bullet struck Reinhard in the arm, causing him to drop Sebastian, but now Reinhard had a new target.... Yukinae.

Dashing up to her with incredible speed, he slashed and slashed, but only managed to cut her skin twice.

Sebastian lay on the floor, struggling to regain consciousness until soon enough he was able to stand.

His left eye already red and filled with blood lust, "Leave her ALONE!" he yelled.

Reinhard turned to face him but saw nothing. He couldn't move any part of his body, for he was tied up inside of pure darkness.

Only after a few second had passed, Reinhard completely collapsed to the floor and the darkness began to fade. Sebastian stepped past Reinhard on the floor and approached Yukinae, "Let's go," he said.

"No, I refuse to leave him here like that," Yukinae replied.

In response to Yukinae's statement, Sebastian was forced to stay until Reinhard was conscious once again. Reinhard got up, alarmed but then Sebastian attempted to calm him, "Look, I don't want to fight you again, I only want your help."

Reinhard's expression changed to one of interest but he said nothing so Sebastian continued, "Earlier you mentioned a wolf's nose is very sensitive, especially for vampires, so I need you to  do me a favor and help me track someone."

Sebastian gave him a strand of Corneillia's hair, which he creepily kept for a time similar to that one. Reinhard sniffed the hair and then sniffed the air and said, "Okay I'll help you, but only because that scent intertwines with one I'm currently tracking."

Sebastian began to walk while looking back, relieved to hear him say yes. He held Yukinae's hand tightly once more, "I still don't trust his, so for now, I'm going to keep you close."

Soon enough, they approached the Kliver mansion and Yukinae slowly approached the door.

"Are you stupid?" Reinhard asked.

"What? I'm only gonna knock," she said as she placed a small bomb on the door and stepped back. In five seconds, the door burst open as Yukinae said, "See, It's always good to knock."

They walked into the mansion as Sebastian said, "You do whatever you want, I'll go find Corneillia.

Reinhard agreed and went on pursuit for Shouji upstairs as Sebastian and Yukinae roamed around on only the first level.

Upstairs, a hoard of vampires, blocked Reinhard's path. Between the vampires, Shouji came out of the crowd clapping, "Well, well, well, you finally made it..... Now I shall congratulate you with death."

Sebastian stopped mid-way through the search, 'That voice,' he  said in his head as he began to tremble. Yukinae repeatedly asked, "What's wrong?" but he did not answer.

At that instant, tears flowed nonstop from Sebastian's eyes with his left eye glowing right red, "That voice...... It's the voice of the man who killed my family."
