A few months had passed, Sky was turning 18 before I knew it. I had little to my name, a truck, a job title, no money really. I was upset I couldn't get Sky something, and she knew that. She would tell me my love was all she needed. I liked those things she would say to me. It almost always cheered me up after feeling down. Anyways, today was her 18th Birthday. I had woken up, left the house, and drove around town. Sky was with her family for most of the day and I didn't want to meet them. So I had to wait to see her. I waited for what felt like the longest and loneliest hours waiting for her to text me.

The time eventually came for me to pick her up. I went to her house and waited. Sky eventually came out and in the doorway I could see her parents. She hugged them goodbye and got into my truck. Man, I couldn't imagine being in her parents shoes there. Watching my daughter leave on her 18th Birthday to get in some guys truck. Yeah, I'd be concerned too, but by the end of the day, she makes her own choices.

"Hi Peter," Sky said giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey there," I responded driving away from her house.
"So where we going," Sky asked.
"Up to the mountain." I said.
