Blaze swirled her water, gazing at the other dragons. Dancing sounded fun. The two IceWing guards that were escorted to her stood still, like statues. Quickly, she put her glass in one of the guards hands and started to go off.

"Princess Blaze," The guard said. Blaze turned to the icy blue guard, holding the cup. "The Queen requests you stay here." Blaze drooped like a wilted flower. She had to listen to these guards, right? She had to show everyone she could be a good leader. But, the beauty of swirling IceWings and a couple of SandWings gracing the dance floor called to her.

"I will be queen of the SandWings, so please, let me go out and dance," Blaze said in her most serious tone. It always felt odd when she used it. She wasn't Blister, all controlling and cold, always knowing what the enemy would before anyone else. And she wasn't Burn, twisted and dark and angry at the world for all this pressure. And she surely wasn't Queen Oasis, who always had ruled respectfully and wise, strong and powerful. She was Blaze, insignificant Blaze, who had guards assigned to her instead of assigning the guards herself. Sighing, she walked back to her spot. Her collection of necklaces around her neck clinked together, and she heard the mumble of the crowd. Tomorrow she could order something blue, like turquoise. Yeah. Turquoise had a nice sound and a nice color to it. Turquoise. Blaze suddenly noticed a figure standing just outside of the dance floor. She was just a little taller than Blaze. She had light blue markings, but other than that, she was pure white like the snow outside. On her head rested a silver crown with chains rolling down her head and up her horns. Necklaces graced with diamonds and sapphires rested on her neck. Blaze blushed with surprise once she realized who this was.

"Queen Glacier," Blaze said under her breath. Blaze had never seen a dragon so...so regal. Sure, her mother had always had a form of royal respect and elegance, but this dragon, she was regal. Regal and beautiful. Blaze tapped her brown claws on the marble floor. She had to get a better look. The gold veil scarf draped around her wings made her itch. She needed to go see this dragon. They had talked before, but in small spurts of conversation. Blaze left most of her best advisors to do the talking so she could nap, but she had never seen Queen Glacier like this. "Guards, I want to get some wine. I'll be back in a moment-"

"The Queen told us to keep you here," The guard said.

"I'll get your wine," the other said. "What do you prefer?" Blaze let out a low growl under her breath. She really wanted to go dance, to go get a better look at this Queen, but these guards. Oh, these stupid, stupid guards.

"I'm going by myself!" Blaze said, making sure when she exited dramatically her barbed tail went just a little too close to the guards. They stood in their place, which made Blaze feel better. Once she got to the table, she made a quick spin on her heels to the dance floor. Once she was on an opposite end, she got a better look at Queen Glacier. There seemed to be a large deep blue scarf going along her back. Blaze had to get a better look. But the princess stayed put. She would find a way to get to the other end. Suddenly, she almost jumped out of her scales when she heard the blow of a horn. The dragons dancing stopped.

"Her majesty, Queen Glacier, requests a formal dance!" The guard said. A dragon standing next to the Queen led her to the dance floor. Blaze shuffled herself on as well, not entirely sure was this dance was.  An IceWing was her first partner. He was a mix of gray colors and dimmed eyes. Blaze sighed. Why were IceWing colors so boring? Gray, gray, and more gray. But with a bang of a drum, the music started. The IceWing hook his wing with hers and she was suddenly spun around, and then he reached out his wing for the other. Blaze had to catch herself for a minute, for this IceWing had strangely strong wings. He spun himself around, and Blaze did the same. Then he moved himself in a square, all facing Blaze. Blaze shuddered. This was nothing like the dances she did as a dragonet. Suddenly she was spun again and came face to face with a SandWing. This SandWing had long scars on her, and her fin was cut in many places. She bowed at Blaze before the dance started again. Blaze wasn't the best dancer. Her siblings would always tease her about this. 'Blaze, you're so clumsy!' They would say. Blister would also say 'Surely no Queen dances like that!' And then she would best Blaze with her dancing skills. At least Burn was on her side in the dancing department, yet Burn never really played with the others, so there wasn't much to go off of. Yet Blaze couldn't help but smile at the thought of her intimidating, tough, and scarred sister dancing. She was soon spun to the next dragon. This was an IceWing, with a cold look to her. She had a necklace with one circle around it. She snorted a cloud of frostbreath once the dance started.

"I can't believe the Queen chose a dragon like you," the IceWing said. "I mean, you can't even fight!" Blaze growled.

"Says the icy little worm that can't cook her own food," Blaze said under her breath. The IceWing suddenly snapped into a face of rage. Oops.

"How DARE you judge my cooking skills?!" The IceWing roared. Blaze flicked her ears back in annoyance.

"Excuse me, but I'll one day be queen of the SandWings! Treat me with respect!" Blaze scowled. The IceWing rolled her eyes, but didn't say another word for the rest of the dance. Blaze ran into another IceWing, who was far less hostile. He had a couple bands of color going down his scales and said to have worked in the second circle for quite a long amount of time. Blaze didn't understand what importance these weird circles had. Were they for decoration? Or value? Or a club? Or just an IceWing thing? Blaze didn't have time to ask, for she was spun right into the face of

"Queen Glacier!" Blaze said with a surprised yelp. She bowed her head respectively. Queen Glacier did the same. "Forgive my clumsiness."

"All is forgiven," Glacier said. "So, you must be Princess Blaze."

"Yes," Blaze said, noticing that Glacier was eyeing her curiously. "Majesty, is there something..." Glacier suddenly snapped back to her ever so regal position, but did't have time to hide her slight blue blush. Blaze didn't question it, for she was cold too. Suddenly the dance began. At first, it felt like any other dance with any other dragon, but there was something strange about it. Glacier was taking her time with the movements. Blaze couldn't help but notice that. But she also realized that the Queen mustn't get the chance to do this often. Of course, that didn't explain with her wing stiffened when she spun it again, or why she didn't let Blaze change places. Blaze also felt as if she wanted to dance more with this dragon. She wanted to really know her.

"So, Blaze, lets discuss business," Glacier said. "How do you feel about sharing some land with the IceWings if yo-if we win the war?" Blaze tilted her head for a moment.

"That seems fair," Blaze said. "You don't have enough territory?"

"Oh, no, but more is always good, you know?" Glacier said. "I do care for my kingdom, and I want whats best for them." Blaze realized she never felt that way about a lot of the SandWings, especially in the palace. She was mostly the young dragon that was overshadowed by Blister. Blister, according to the rest of the palace, is what a strong queen would've been. Smart, elegant, powerful, all those traits fit to lead. Blaze? She was that pretty, little SandWing with a flair for dramatics. "Is something wrong?" Blaze blushed once she realized the queen was talking to her.

"Oh! No! No no no!" Blaze said. "Just...remembered my family." Glacier sighed. Blaze couldn't read her face that well. Was she sad? Angry? Confused? Irritated? All four? Shaking the thought out of her head, she realized that the dance floor was starting to part, leaving to the two dragons on the dance floor. Blaze suddenly got an idea. It was a bold idea, but she really wanted to try it. Taking a deep breath, she put her wings with Glaciers and started to spin around the dance floor. Blaze saw a smile crack onto Glacier's face as she was spun around. Suddenly, Blaze was pulled forward.

"Watch it, slushhead," Glacier whispered. Blaze looked back to see an IceWing, an IceWing Blaze almost ran into. This act made her chest jump. Glacier did that, for her! Blister would've let go at the last minute to watch her crash into the guests, and Burn would've shoved her into the guests. They would never save her. And then, the ballroom was lit up with silver light. Blaze looked up to see the lights go out. The only light was a bright, silver moon. Blaze watched Glacier's face creep from white to blue. Blaze couldn't stop the large grin growing on her face. The two started to slowly dance, each move more graceful than the last. And at the same time, Glacier still looked regal. A bubble of warmth grew in Blaze's chest as they continued to dance. Glacier, with her crown, scales, voice, and her way of moving, it was regal. Truly regal. Blaze lifted her chin. She could be like that. Glacier, look! I can be that way! Glacier spun Blaze around and the light from the moon soon dimmed, and the lights were back on. Glacier and Blaze spun to a stop, and Glacier kissed her front talons. "May I meet you in the palace tomorrow, Princess Blaze?" Blaze flushed bright red.

"Of course!" Blaze said, before rushing off the dance floor to hide her enormous smile. She would be with the most regal dragon there ever was.

She would have to order some turquoise.
