After a long, frustrating meeting with Yomi, Mukuro and their advisors, I was massaging my temples with my fingers. We were arguing about the best plan of action to take on Danoraya. As usual, we disagreed on just about everything.
Yomi wants to send spies to the southern half of demon world to see if we can find out the size of her army. Mukuro wants to combine all our fighters and just charge the mountain. I'm not so sure either of those plans are wise. Defense may be our best strategy at the moment, but of course neither of them thought so.
Touou had been dispatched earlier to recruit Enki and all our old friends. Kurama suggested rounding up Jin, Toya and the others I met at the tournament. They will be a great asset to our army alongside the monks.
The three of us were standing on Yomi's porch trying to find some middle ground when we heard a huge commotion coming from the gates of Gandara. Needless to say we made it there in record time only to see a hoard of demons attacking the city. Yomi's army had already intervened, but it didn't look as if they were fairing well. These demons have to be Danoraya's.
The three of us joined the fight as I contacted Hokushin through telepathy. Hopefully they can get here quick. Absolute chaos was everywhere I looked.
Yomi had a barrier up while four demons attacked him mercilessly. About three were facing Mukuro, who was holding her own quite well. Two attacked me at once, but I destroyed them within minutes.
Hokushin and the monks finally arrived. Soon, we were no longer on the defensive. Slowly we were driving them out of the city, but we needed more help.
Thankfully, Mukuro's insect transports were spotted coming over the horizon. We will finally have the army outnumbered. Loads of demons piled out and within the hour the mystery demons were vanquished.
As we gathered ourselves together, the sky above us turned black. Danoraya appeared and looked pissed, "This was just my first line. They were my weakest, so don't think this is over. It has only begun. Give me my daughter's body, the Ligetenatan and your surrender and I'll end this. It's up to you, your highness." She made a face as she called me that.
Mukuro and Yomi vehemently shook their heads. Good. We are of one accord then.
"That is never going to happen. Katana is safe and you will not get to him ever again. Baashti will defeat the dragon holding her captive. You will fall."
Danoraya crossed her arms with a smirk, "The Ligetenatan is not as safe as you think. Trust me on that one. As soon as I have my daughter's body, I'll stop sending small armies to randomly attack. I'll still kill you and take over, but I'll give you a period of peace before you die." She raised her hands and disappeared.
The sky returned to crimson and I surveyed our surroundings. Her demons disintegrated and blew away in the wind. Apparently they were soulless and blindly gave their lives for her. Fools.
After a brief search we found 50 dead. We had hundreds that were wounded, which plummeted our already small number of fighters down severely. If we can't get anymore rounded up to join our side, the battle will be over before it begins.
Hokushin came up beside me, "What will you have me do?" I looked at the demons groaning in pain, "Get two teams together. One to help our wounded into Yomi's medical building and another one to collect our dead. We shall bury them with honor."
Raizen made this king business seem simple. I'm sure he wouldn't be sitting on his throne right now worrying about what to do next. He already would have been three steps ahead of the witch. Hell, she wouldn't have survived to the last round of the tournament.
As I was bashing myself internally, a pink haired, short woman walked inside. I instantly straightened up. "Genkai, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
She crossed her arms, "Yukina wants to come here and help out in the fight with Danoraya. Her healing abilities are magnificent and she would do better here than at my house assaulting me with a tirade of questions. She knows I know more than what I'm willing to tell her and she inquires as to why I'm deliberately hiding the truth from her. The girl is extremely smart and is not weak like Hiei thinks she is. She's not a fragile flower that will break at the slightest shock. She's of your blood and weakness does not flow through your veins, nor your children. If you ask me you should allow her to come here. When this is over tell her who you are, with or without your son's permission. It's not fair for her to have gone through what she did and then be lied to."
I thought back to a few days after the tournament. Kurama, Yusuke, Hiei and I were in the throne room when my son cried out, "She's awake!" We all thought he meant Baashti at first, but he shook his head and said his Jagan had alerted him of Yukina's awakening.
Kurama and Hiei went to human world to check on her. She was alive and well. She was also full of questions. They returned after they were satisfied she had recovered completely from the linking parasite.
"If she wants to come then she is more than welcome. We need all the help we can get. Baashti and I both agreed that we would never betray Hiei by going behind his back and telling Yukina who we are. I will keep my word. If nothing else, I'll keep it for Baashti." My voice broke when I said her name.
I can't imagine what she is going through. Knowing that I can't help, her is killing me. My poor princess, I'm so sorry.
Genkai nodded, "Of course, it's your choice and none of my business anyways. I'll head home and send her here. Hejeiken listen, I've known you both for a very long time now. I've seen Baashti struggle with her power, her life and who she is in general. If anyone can defeat this fabled soul eating dragon, it is her. I have the utmost faith in your daughter."
The burden on my heart lightened a little at her encouraging words. I've seen Baashti go through so much. She's had more pain and torment than anyone I've ever known. Please get through this my princess. Get through this and come home.
My mind wandered to Yukina. I don't know how I'm going to hide my elation when I see her. More importantly, how in the world am I going to tell Hiei?
