Awkward...

For the rest of the week, Troy said hi or acknowledged me in some way whenever he saw me. I wasn't sure what had come over him but he was being nice. I asked Delaney one day and she looked at me like I was missing out on something but just shook her head, and said he was acting the exact same with everyone else.

After fourth period on Thursday, Troy came up to me.

"Hey so I was wondering if you wanted to work on the project tomorrow?" He asked me.

"Don't you have anything better to do on a Friday night?" I asked dumbfounded. I mean he probably usually went to parties and hooked up with girls or something.

"Nah I just wanna stay home," he said calmly.

"Alright," I shrugged.

"I'll pick you up after school tomorrow then," he winked and strolled back to his friends, while I blushed and watched him leave.

"So what's up with your life. We haven't talked just the two of us in a while," I was on the phone with Delaney.

"Nothing at all. Except school I guess. It's just that I'm finally over Josh but I haven't found anyone new yet, not that I really want to...cause you know..." Delaney responded. Josh was Delaney's ex boyfriend who had managed to shatter my best friends heart into a million pieces. They were together for over a year before he suddenly decided to ignore her. He was one of the quieter jocks. He seemed nice enough but every time I looked at him I remembered how much of a dick he had been to Delaney and I hated him for it.

I supposed that by 'you know' she meant her condition, Delaney was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and she didn't like anyone knowing. She was really insecure about it.

"I'm sure you will find someone that really does appreciate you," I reassured her.

"Thanks. You always know what to say. So what's up with you and the ever so handsome, Satan's spawn?" Delaney said giggling.

"Troy? Well first of all he is not handsome. Second of all, why would you think anything was going on? We hate him, and we're just working on a project together," There really wasn't anything more than a project. Right?

"Well honey the way he looks at you and smiles at you I would say it's something a lot more," Delaney scoffed.

"He looks at me the way he looks at everyone else. And plus, he's a fuckboy, you know that. He's probably trying to get me to hook up with him," I said a little disgusted at the thought of it.

"Whatever floats your boat Hazel" Delaney giggled.

"I'm serious" I said a little frustrated.

"I know you are. You're just blind. Anyway I have to go but this conversation is not over," she said authoritatively.

"Okay bye," I sighed.

"Bye!" She chirped.

After the talk with Delaney I started thinking. Okay let's start easy. I told myself. Do I hate Troy? I don't think so; I mean he seems nicer than he used to. Do I think we are friends? Maybe but not really. Do I find him attractive? Well I guess he's average. Do I have feelings for Troy? Absolutely not, and I am never going to.
