Project

The next few weeks were absolutely insane. The teachers decided that seniors had not already suffered enough in their eleven previous years of education. They gave endless amounts of homework, quizzes, tests, and having become used to doing nothing over summer made it so much harder.

And on top of all of the anxiety of school, (yes I care about my grades a lot but can you blame me? I want a good life) I have soccer practice and games too. I mean I totally enjoyed soccer but it was all just a little too much at the beginning.

After about two weeks or so, I guess I just started getting used to it all and I became less of a bitch than I had been for those past few weeks.

So it was a Monday morning, (what fun) that I was in science class when the teacher started to announce a new project that we would have to do.

"Are we allowed to pick our partners?" Taylor one of the jocks asked.

"I'm afraid not for this particular project. But you might be allowed in the future. The lists will be posted on my window at the end of today," Our science teacher said.

I looked back at Delaney, both of us were frowning just as the whole class groaned. For the rest of the class, the teacher explained the project which seemed to involve lots and lots of work with the person outside of school.

I spent the rest of the day hoping to get a good partner because I wanted a good grade on my first project and hoped I wouldn't have to do all the work.

As I walked up to the window a big crowd of the typical loud jocks were gathered around hollering and laughing and groaning at their partners. I pushed past them and I almost dropped my phone that was in my hand.

Written there next to my name in clear, twelve point, times new roman font was the single person I hated more than anyone at this school.

Troy Miller.

Dammit. I thought.

"Hey I'm not that bad you know," Troy said behind me, noticing my grim expression.  I wish I could've slapped that annoying smirk off his too perfect face.

"Okay, whatever I don't care, I just want a good grade. We can work on it whenever you want," I said grumpily. I mean at least as much as I hated him he was one of the smart jocks. I'm not a genius or anything but I am a straight A student.

"How bout tomorrow? I can pick you up after school and we can go over to my place," Troy said while still retaining his annoying smirk.

"Whatever. See you later," I rolled my eyes, annoyed at how okay he was with this.

"Bye," he waved.

As soon as I got home, I Face-Timed  Delaney to tell her the news.

"Hey what's up?" Delaney asked, picking up.

"So you know the science project?"

"Yeah, apparently it's a huge part of our grade and super important! I got partnered up with Athena! I'm so glad you have no idea. I was so scared I would get a weird person or something. The project is gonna be great. I-"

"Delaney,"

"I am so excited!"

"DELANEY!"

"Sorry, what?" Delaney asked, dumbfounded.

"I'm partnered with Troy," I murmured.

"Troy? As in... Troy Miller? The real Troy Miller?" Delaney asked in shock.

"Unfortunatly," I sighed.

"I feel really bad for you because I can relate to how much you hate him. But think of it this way, he's smart and you won't get a bad grade. You just have to pretend that it's all right or he will just get to you more. Relax its not gonna be too bad," Delaney said, knowing exactly what will make me feel better and relax me.

"Thanks Delaney. That helped a lot. Now I'm gonna go do homework because we have so much. Bye!" I hung up the phone and thought about how I was going to actually have to spend time with Troy.
