Back then one look from Jess would have sent his heart fluttering but now looking at Jess shatters his heart even further. He's learned that eventually everyone can only see the ugly within him. Label him a psychopath. Weirdo. Cold-hearted. Merciless. Vile. Alone.
He's so used to being second best but after losing Jess not once but twice his entire mindset and way of life have changed. He is only a shell of who he used to be, which is not entirely a bad thing. It just means he has a lot of room to grow.
