Chapter 4

Incubus

After driving for eternity we finally pulled up in front of an old Victorian mansion. It was three stories of elegance and screamed money. The lawns were well tended with red and white rose bushes decorating it. A fountain was shimmering in the light as streams of water streamed down a statue of a woman holding a vase. It felt peaceful as the wind blew scent of roses threw my window. A door slamming interrupted my observations. My gaze swung to the large front doors where my mother was passionately kissing some man. Slipping out the car I walked towards them, the gravel crunching under my shoes. I wonder who her new boy toy was. Were the married? Did he have children? Was he young or old? Questions kept coming to mind the closer I got the the couple. The man who she was mauling looked to be in his forties with brown hair and a designer suit. Behind them standing inside the doorway was a boy who looked around my age. Curiously, I started towards him ignoring the couple who were humping like rabbits in the drive way. He had black messy hair which was sticking out in every direction like he just go out of bed. A black leather jacket was covering a plain white cotton shirt paired with ripped jeans. He looked up at me his eyes widening slightly as he took me in. I would like to think it was because of how hot I looked, but it was probably because my makeup was dried down my face, blonde hair was matted and sticky and my uniform was stained with coffee. I looked freaking beautiful.

I stopped directly I'm front of him, so close I could smell the leather of his jacket and the slight scent of weed. Scrunching up my nose and forcing a smile at him. I opened my mouth just to shut it just as quickly as two thin arms slid around his waist possessively. Succubus or not I don't think her boyfriend was going to be flirting with someone who looked like a mental patient. A blonde head peeked around him staring at me with an ugly sneer on her face. I must be wearing some sort of 'hate me' scent since every female I meet seems to hate me automatically. Forcing my smile to widen and putting some fake cheer in my voice I basically sung at them. "Hey guys, I'm Raven it's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance" Not. They both stared at me like I had grown three heads and was breathing fire. Which actually was a common occurrence at Dark Knights Academy with all the monsters. Finally the boy snapped out of his trance and smiled a fake grin at me.

"Hey, I'm Jeremy and this is Morgan" she just continued to sneer at me. I gave her a distasteful look before forcing a smilie back on my face again. There was an awkward silence which all we could here was my mums moans which made it all the more awkward. I really hope they weren't doing on the car. Jeremy cleared his throat. "So, we have to go. So, uh, see ya around Jaden" I glared at they're retreating forms. How could he get Raven mixed up with Jaden? Jeremy is so going on the douche bag list.

Jeremy's pulled out in a black car passing another sleek silver car which parked in the now vacated spot. I glared at the black tinted windows dreading and anticipating what would get out. I gaped when an incubus got out. What the hell? Just when I thought I finally got away from one of them my mum came and lead me to another. What the hell was she thinking? Locking his car he turned around started walking towards me, his eyes on his phone. He looked like he had just came from a party, with messy hair, wrinkled clothes and sunglasses covering his eyes from the glare of the sun. Scenarios went though my head as he got closer. One included my mothers advise about grabbing a knife and carving him up but I never got a chance to do them.

"Honey, I'll be back soon" the she devil called out waving at me from her car before revving the engine and leaving me all alone having no clue where I was with one of our worst enemies. The stench of cheap alcohol reached my nose making me step away from the body which was now in my face. I cautiously took another step just to keep a safe distance between us. Mr Incubus mumbled something I didn't catch and opened the door gesturing for me to go in. I casually felt around my pockets for a weapon but they were empty and my bag was in the boot of her Porsche.

Slowly stepping over the threshold a whoosh of air left my lungs as I took I the interior of the amazing mansion. Totally forgetting I could be stepping into a trap. Everything had a deep regal feeling to it. From the furniture the walls to the colours. It was just beautiful.

The incubus staggered past me further into the house. I wasn't sure if I should follow or not. When a paintings eyes moved to mine I found myself running after him. Trust the my mother to be living in a haunted mansion. I finally caught up to him on the second floor, I was shocked by how fast he was. Maybe he had vampire blood in him. We finally stopped in what was the biggest bedroom I had ever seen. With a massive wooden bed with red silk covers. Paintings decorated the walls, varying from all different art movements. Was that a Monet? I had the urge to grab as many as I could and run. A stone fireplace was on the opposite side of the room with a television above it. Red couches that matched the bed sat in front of it with a wooden coffee table in between. The nameless supernatural creature opened up one of the doors in the room and entered a bathroom. Being the creature I was I followed him and leaned against the door watching him down a couple of aspirins. His bloodshot eyes met mine in the mirror. His glasses lay on the floor where he had carelessly dropped them.

"You look like shit" I told him honestly. His skin was a pasty white colour which contrasted with his dark hair. He looked like vampire. A very hungover vampire.

"Have you looked in the mirror" his voice sounded hoarse, like he had been screaming all night. I looked back in the mirror and cringed. I looked like even worse then I thought I did. "Who are you anyway?" He splashed water on his face giving his cheeks a little slap to get colour to return to them.

"I'm Catherine's daughter" his eyebrows shot up in the reflection of the mirror.

"But she's like 20"

"Looks can be deceiving"

"What do you mean?" What do I mean? I mean we can stop ageing. Kat was hundreds of years old and one of the oldest of our kind. He should know that unless...

"You don't know" I mumbled as he past me back in to the bedroom. This boy had no clue what we were. He probably didn't even know what he was.

"What?"

I gave him a secretive smile as he sat down on the bed still watching me. "Nothing" I whispered. "Who are you anyway?"

"Ash" he mumbled before falling asleep.

"Ash" I repeated in a whisper. Climbing on his bed, carefully sitting on his chest. "Sweet dreams, love"

Opening my mind out to his, I felt myself be pulled into his dream.
