Music. I can't imagine my life without it. Most of the time, it manages to capture every single one of my emotions. It's the universal language of the world.

Everyone knows I spend the majority of my life in my bedroom listening to albums,  running away from my responsibilities. But my parents, they just don't get it.
My name is Courtney and yes, bands have taken over my life.

Someone from downstairs is shouting. I take out my earphones so I can hear what's going on.

"COURTNEY, CAN YOU PLEASE COME DOWNSTAIRS!??!" my mum screamed at the top of her voice.

Uh oh.  I've done something wrong. What now?  My music wasn't blaring because I had my earphones in...so what the hell did I do?

Immediately,  I race down the stairs until I'm in the dining room where I encounter my mum, dad and little brother staring straight at me.

"... What?" I say.
"Errrm dinner? We eat as a family whether you like it or not. We've been calling you for ages. " my dad replied.

I sat down on the empty dining room chair.
"Sorry about that." I muttered.

Even though we eat as a family,  there really wasn't much conversation happening. To be honest,  it was a bit awkward.
Towards the end of the silent meal,  my little brother piped up.

"Oooooooh pleeeaasseee can we say it now!!" he squealed.
"Say what...?" I questioned.
"Okay so this is going to be an early birthday present for you but we bought you some concert tickets to see The Strypes." mum replied.

I yelped. I've never been to a concert before. I mean,  I've watched loads on my laptop but I've never actually physically been to one.  My parents always told me that they were a rip off and I'm better off just watching them online.

"We didn't know what to get you because we always buy you the same thing. Hope you like it." dad added.

"Like it!?!? I absolutely love this!! I'm so excited thank you!" I cried.

The Strypes. I've been in love with this band from the start of their career. I'm going to see them in person. This is crazy, no way.
They're not the biggest band out there and the venue won't be too large but for me, I think this is a great place to start.

I can't wait.
