THEY WERE IN THE SUBWAY. It wasn't a surprise that they were alone, who would be walking around at 1 A.M? Agnes was with her feet on the seat in the front while Dominic kept his feet on the ground. They were silence for the most of the ride and all Agnes could think was in her parents back home. Would they notice that she was gone? Probably not, they were too busy arguing with each other to pay attention in their daughter. They were almost arriving when Dominic broke the silence."What about you?" He asked making her frown "Your story.. How did you end up in that bus?"
He had told his story, so it was only fair that she shared hers.
"I kind of runaway" she said looking at her hands "I say kind because I will probably be back when the sun rises"
He kept in silence waiting for her to continue and she swallowed. Here was her about to complain about her parents to a boy who didn't have parents. She didn't know if it was the right thing to do, but she hates lies so she decided to tell the truth anyway.
"My parents only fight" she started "I should probably be used by now, but I'm not. I hate it when they start scream and break things around the house and they are so busy arguing with each other that they didn't even recognize what is happening with their daughter. I bet they don't even know that I'm not in my bedroom"
Dominic pressed his lips together before said "I'm sorry about that" he gave her a little smile "You deserved good parents"
"So do you" she said taking his hand and returning the smile "Now, let's stop with the depressing stuff and celebrate your birthday"
The got up and again Agnes dragged Dominic around. She had to admit that felt incredibly nice have his hands around hers. They walked for a couple of minutes after got out of the subway station until stopped in front of a twenty-four hours dinner that Agnes know by heart. When things get too hard to handle at home, she would come here and drink a strawberry with vanilla milkshake, she likes to think that the milkshake make her day better and she wanted to share this with Dominic.
"I simply love this place!" She said smiling "I bet you will like too"
"How do you found this place?" He asked looking around.
"Well" she said sitting on the corner table "Let's just say that this isn't the first time that I runaway" she said making quotes marks with her hands while he sit in front of her.
She could tell that Dominic was impressed by the place and he was right to be. It was very warm and comfort, the kind of place you could stay for hours without even notice. She was busy looking at Dominic's face that she almost didn't notice the waitress standing right beside her.
"Hello Agnes!" The waitress said making her turn "It's been a while!"
"Sarah!" Agnes smiled lightly "Yeah.. I know, I missed this place"
"We missed you too, kiddo" Sarah smiled back.
"This is my friend Dominic" she said pointing him who gave a brief smile towards Sarah.
"Nice to meet you" the waitress said to him before turn back to Agnes "The same as always?"
"Yeah, we're going to share" Agnes answered and Sarah nodded leaving the two alone.
"What are we going to share?" Dominic asked confused.
"You'll see, birthday boy" Agnes winked "I hope you enjoy because it's on me this time"
