Annie's POV:
I'm awoken by the blaring of my loud alarm. I grab my phone, expecting a good morning text from Tyler, my boyfriend. Oops.
Ex-boyfriend.
I put my phone down and rub my eyes, stretching my body. I slip out of bed and start slowly getting ready.
Pulling on a dark tee and leggings over my leo, I throw my hair up in a bun and brush my teeth. I don't feel like wearing makeup today, so I just put on some moisturizer and head downstairs.
"Hey Ans." Mom says with tired eyes. I manage a smile and sit down to eat some bland cereal. Hayley comes down in her Leo, because she has gym with me tomorrow. Mom pulls out the camera to film us.
"Look at these two tired girlies!" She exclaims, pointing the camera at us. I sit up straight and put on a huge fake smile. Hayley follows.
"There's my girls." Mom laughs.
"You excited for summer break?" She says, looking through the camera. Hayley just nods and starts eating her cereal. Mom finally goes on to film the dogs, and my smile loosens to a blank expression, like I'm a machine. We manage through the morning, and before I know it I'm finally in the passenger seat with mom and Hayley on our way to gym.
Gym is really the only thing keeping me happy right now. Well, along with my few close friends, Katie, Sydney, Mia and Arden. Most of the other coral girls either left or moved away. Besides my friends, the coral girls group is full of a bunch of snobby, clique girls. They keep to their own things at the least.
Mom hands Hayley the camera to get some footage.
"We're on our way to gym! I can't wait to get there and work on my giants." She grins, and it's almost believable. I can tell gym is one of her only real things left too. It's like our life has become a huge TV show, and gym/friends are the only way to escape it.
She zooms in on my face and I manage a couple faces for the camera before she stops. Okay, maybe she stills likes filming a little. Just wait until she gets older.
LATER
Finally, we're at gym. I don't start actually training for another hour, so we just do school while the other gym coaches teach. For some reason, the snob girls keep whispering and looking and me and my friends table. I search our area, looking for something wrong with us. Nothing. We all have our headphones in, and our table is clean. I don't know what their problem is.
But then I hear the word.
Bratayley.
Because the newer girls always seemed like bullies, I didn't talk about the channel at gym. I also just don't like to talk about it.
I fully take my headphones of and listen quietly.
"She acts like such a downer on it. It's kinda sad." One girl mutters.
"She brags so much."
"I heard her brother died. It's probably fake."
At the last sentence I stand up. The girls stop talking and Katie looks up at me. She nudged Mia and Arden, who also take off their headphones. Katie sees the anger and sadness in my face and grabs my hand. I pull away and walk over to those girls.
"My brothers death is not a lie. Don't you dare say that." I mutter with gritted teeth.
"Whatever." The leader shrugs, rolling her eyes. I'm about to go back to my table when I hear her whisper to her group.
"See? Look how fake she is."
I snap and walk over to her. I don't know what came over me. She stands up, and before she can say anything I punch her in the jaw. She falls back because of the shock, and her little flock of girls surround her.
"OMG!" They all shriek as Coach Mary comes in.
"What happened in here?" She says, looking at my friends, the ones shes trusts.
"Julianna punched Bella!" The redhead screams. Coach Mary summons me to her office with just a glance at me. Bella follows as well.
"Now girls, what the hell happened?!"
After we both explain, Mary tells Bella to leave. The door slams shut, and Coach Mary starts talking.
"Annie, I know she talked about a sensitive topic, but you can't just punch her. You're better than this. And it's been years since it happened. You can just get mad at her. She doesn't know how hurtful the topic can be for you. You are suspended for the day, along with Bella. She's being a bully, but that doesn't mean you should stoop down to her level and punch her. I hope this doesn't happen again." Mary says in a mature voice.
"I understand Coach." I say, a hint of anger still in my voice.
"See you tomor-"
I cut off her perky voice by slamming the door. I didn't even really mean to slam it very hard, but whatever. I stop to my table and grab my school things. Katie is the only one who pulls her earbuds out.
"What happened Ans?" She asks.
"Suspended for the day." I mutter. She stands up and hugs me while the "bully" girls glare.
"See you tonight." She says as I leave. I shoot a glare at the other table. I almost smile when I notice that I already left a purple, knuckle-shaped bruise on her jaw.
Pulling out my phone, I dial my moms phone. She's going to be pissed when she finds out what I did.
"Hey Annie. What do you need?" She asks.
"I'm suspended from gym for the day. I need to you pick me up." I say, waiting for he backlash.
"You have some explaining to do. I'll be there in 10 minutes." She growls before she hangs up. See, the only reason she's mad is because she's scared that someone will "leak" information that I punched a girl and it'll ruin my rep. On the other hand, I don't really care.
Some enough, mom pulls up in the tesla. I through my bag in the back and slide into the passenger seat. Before I even have a chance to say anything, mom starts questioning me.
"What the hell happened?!" She shouts.
"These girls at gym. One of them made fun of the channel and said that we lied about Calebs death. So.. I punched her." I say, on the verge of tears. I can't tell if I'm extremely angry or upset.
Her angry look loosens, and I can tell she understands. She sighs, closing her eyes for a moment before driving away from the gym.
"Okay. That explains it a bit, but there is still no reason you had to stoop to her level and be violent. I'm disappointed. But at least I'm not angry." She's says while staring into the road. I just nod and stare out the window. If only he was here. To hold me. God, how I miss him.
We drive in silence until we reach our neighbourhood.
"Could you vlog please?" Mom says, nodding at the camera sitting in the cup holder. I stare at the small black machine that I hate oh-so-much. Sighing, I pick it up and plaster another fake smile on my face.
"Hey guys. I'm coming home early from gym today. Got some extra school to catch up on. Hayley's still at school, but you guys will see her in just a bit. See you later!" I say and click off. It was short, but at least I'll be in the vlog.
Mom and I part ways when we get inside. I go straight up stairs to text my friends. I actually sort of lied to the vlog. For the first time, I'm actually ahead on school right now.
Plopping onto my bed, I notice a text from my friend Andrea. I met her in school, and we just started talking again last year.
Party at my house tonight. You in?
Hmm. I haven't been to a party since the summer parties in L.A last year.
Sure. Time?
I text back. I head into my closet looking for an outfit. After searching for what seems to be forever, I decide on a short white bodycon dress paired with a cropped black leather jacket. And to make it a bit more casual, I match the outfit with some plain adidas superstars. I do some simple makeup and put soft curls in my hair. By the time I sit back down on my bed to read her text, it's already around 5.
10:00. Hoping to end it by around 4.
I reply quickly.
Okay, see you tonight. Need me to grab anything?
She answers one last time.
If you can get any alcohol, bring it.Damnnnnn getting intense. Also, if you're under like 12-13 you might get a lil offended by the next couple chapters. And in no way do I mean that Annie would ever do these things in real life, it's just for entertainment so don't get angry plz.
