Beauty Inside

Chapter 4

We all laugh as we sit in the booth talking about old times when we were younger and telling Jonny about them while he laughs at are embarrassing moments. I don't know how much time has passed but this was a nice day, nicest one I had in a while.

"Oh look the seven o'clock news is on." My eyes widen and I grab Axel's jacket. He looks shocked at my action but I don't care, I have to get home now!

"We have to go!" He looks at me questioning my request but gets up from the booth letting me out and my brother gets up and rushes to there knowing what's gonna happen. Once Axel unlocks the car doors I hurry and open the door and getting in the passenger seat putting on my seatbelt. He gets in and starts the car.

"Nat are you okay?" I nod and he turns and starts the car and starts driving out of the parking lot. I bite my lip hard enough to draw blood. I grab the seat. The monster is going to come out.

"Were here. Nat what's up?" I shake my head yes and attempt to open my door but it's locked. I look over at Axel desperately and keeps his face straight.

"Please?" My voice comes out weak and his eyes soften.

"Jonathan, can you give me and your sister a minute?" My brother nods and gets out the car and walks into the house. My stomach starts the hurt and I shake my leg nervous because any time he can come driving up. I look straight ahead and bite my lip. Please don't come.

"Please let me out." He shakes his head no. "Teddy bear, please." I said his nick name I use to call him because he was my comfort when my parents use to argue about him wanting her to continue chemo and she was tired and growing weaker and weaker. He was my teddy bear, not a toy teddy bear. He was my real life teddy bear.

"No baby girl, what's wrong?" I look down not wanting to lie to his face. I gulp and bite my lip.

"Nothing's wrong Axel." I convince and he nods hesitant and reaches out and takes my lip and rubs fingers gently.

"Don't do that anymore baby girl." I smile and hug him. I missed him so much.

"I'm fine teddy." He wraps his hands around me tight and I know he missed me too.

"Okay Nat, I think you have to go back inside or your brother is going to be worried." I laugh and let go. He unlocks the door and I get out and walk up the the gate of my house and wave bye.

"See you at school!" I shout and he rolls his window down.

"See you at school." He smiles and waves goodbye and drives off. Once his car disappears down the street I open the gate and walk to the door.

"What were you doing outside?!" I turn around and my smile drops and I do what I feel I need to.

"I was checking the mail and we don't have none today." I lie. He nods his head.

"Okay go inside." I nod and quickly open the door then I rush upstairs. I'm getting pretty good at lying.
