We pick up my brother from school. We are sitting in the car listening to the radio. I start biting my nail on my thumb that is a bad habit of mine when I'm nervous. I look out the window watching all the houses and trees pass by.

"What time is it?" I ask nervously, still biting my lip. We reach a stop light and I look over at him and he leans in towards my ear.

"Keep biting your lip and I'm going to bite you, Nat." He whispers. I let go of my lip and look down to look somewhere else to slow my heart beat. I use to have a crush on him.

"You didn't answer my question Axel." I gulped. He is effecting me to much.

"It's five. Calm down Nat, let's get some ice cream. What do you say about that Jonathan?" I look up in the front mirror to see him nod fiercely with a smile on his face. I sigh. The things I do to make him smile.

"Okay, only for a little bit. Okay?" I turn back to make sure his clear on my choice. I can't risk getting in trouble for ice cream. He nods his head and I turn back around.

Once we make it to the ice cream place I feel all the memories come back to me.

"Mom! Axel isn't my boyfriend, we're only friends." I giggle when she shows me her 'don't lie to me face'.

"I wasn't born yesterday Nat! I know either you like him or your hiding your very first boyfriend." She hollered and I feel my cheeks began to get warm. She pokes my cheeks and laughs. All man she got me.

"Okay I like him! But I don't know if he likes me back." I informed. She puts her spoon to her mouth and takes a long pause before she takes her spoon out.

"Nat, maybe you should tell him." She nods to herself.

"But he hangs out with these popular kids at are middle school and doesn't have time to talk to me anymore. I don't blame him I always rush and do my homework or have my head in a book." I slump down on my hand and jab my chocolate ice cream.

"Okay baby, do it when you see fit but it will all get better. But don't stop doing something you love for anyone. Now let's have the best mom and daughter day while the boys are getting there hair cut." I smile and she smiles back.

"I Love you mom." I beam and her smile grows wider.

"I love you to the moon and back." She beams.

I smile at the memory of us at this very place talking about my huge crush on Axel. Those were the good old days when my father was a happy man and my mother was still here. And when Axel was my first crush, but that's over. I never told him that I use to have a crush on him when I was nine and didn't realize until I was thirteen. Now four years later he still doesn't know and I promised I won't like him ever again and stopped. At least....I hope I did.
