"Lapis..." Peridot squeaked quietly. The time was 9:53 pm Eastern Standard Time, and all was okay. The blue roommate of the overly excited Peridot was laying on a pile of hay in the loft of the barn they lived in.
"Check this ouuuut!" Peridot squeaked again, but this time much louder.
"What?!" Lapis yelled as she peered over the side of the loft to look at Peridot. Peridot, a short but durable gem, held up a rather large green alien head, complete with moose antlers.
"We have to put this somewhere!" She said with a big cheesy grin on her face.
"No way..." Lapis said, trying not to laugh at her roommate's interesting find.
"I'm gonna hang it on the door!" Peridot squealed as she bounced up and down.
"That way, we can finally have some home decoration here!"
"Home decoration?" Lapis asked.
"Y'know! To make it feel more like a home! (And less like a stinky barn.)" Peri said her voice trailing into a mutter as she said it.
"Well, why not?" Lapis said as she shrugged and strolled back to her pile of hay. She laid down and as soon as she did, loud clanking and crashing came from downstairs, but Lapis just shrugged it off and let Peridot do her thing. That night Lapis couldn't help but think about what had happened earlier last week. With Peridot poofing, and Lapis feeling guilty about not being there for her when Peri felt like she wasn't enough. Lapis felt dread inside her, but she always had to keep her emotions to herself. She could never let herself be weak and let her feelings take over. Last time that happened, she ended up trapped at the bottom of the ocean. (Which she didn't think would happen again, but she wasn't taking any chances.) Lapis rested a little less softly once she remembered that Peridot trying to do productive things is what caused Peridot so much pain recently. She immediately got up and went to check on Peridot, it was quiet. This unnerved Lapis Lazuli and caused her to try to find Peridot with a little bit more vigor and haste. Finally she called out, "Peridot?!" She was met with a late response from... above her?
"Lapis, fly up to the roof! Check this out!" The green gem practically screeched at Lapis. But, obeying her friend she rolled her eyes, spawned her wings and with two flaps, was up on the barn's roof with Peridot.
"Look! I made this human invention that tells you which way the wind blows! I even added the symbol of the land, a cow! See!" Peridot displayed the strange device that looked like a compass with no ties to gravity. Lapis was astounded by her strange little roommate's ability to stay so interested by simple ancient human technology.
"Cool." Lapis proclaimed as she folded her arms.
"I guess it's cool anyways." Peridot shot Lapis a look.
"Just cool? That's all it gets?" She asked with her big glassy eyes tearing up. Lapis instantly realizing that she made a mistake, even though she didn't know what she did, she tried to fix it.
"Not just cool!" Lapis blurted out loudly, you could tell she didn't know what to say, so she began to ramble.
"It's marvelous, wonderful, I've never seen a human make one of those... things, as well as you have! I'm sure it will be the best one of all of the things that get blown around by the wind!" Lapis continued to ramble as Peridot started to laugh.
"What are you laughing about?" Lapis questioned. Peridot smiled with a little grin.
"You care about my feelings don't you? Just a little bit." She said as she took a step closer to Lapis Lazuli. The blue gem's face went even bluer, she started to scramble her words.
"Me, caring, your feelings? For?" As Lazuli stuttered and sputtered her words Peridot had wrapped her arms around her.
"Gee, thanks, Lazuli." She said smiling up at Lapis. Lapis wanted to hug back, but Peridot had her rather trapped in an embrace. A long one at that. The only sound that could be heard was the rustling of leaves in the wind. Finally after what seemed like ages to Lapis, Peridot finally released her from the hug.
"Sorry, I just kinda did one of those body hold things that Steven does." Peridot said as her face grew a pale green, worried that she had done something to unnerve Lapis.
"No, no. It's fine. Really." Lapis said kinda quietly as they stared at each other. Finally, Lapis broke the gaze by turning away and bidding Peridot "Goodnight, and get down safely." Before she flapped down to the ground and quickly rushed back into the barn. Lapis felt strange, like she was light and queasy at the stomach. She tried to shake it off and get back to her hay pile so she could escape her reality for the moment. But as she laid back down she realized, it was Peridot causing these feelings.-----------------------------------------
Hello friends, it's been a while, I'm so sorry I have not been active lately. I have recently been into a depression slump and have had no ambition to write or do anything, so I apologize. Soon I should be posting one of these about every 3-5 days. Also more fanfics such as Mcpricely, Hamilton, and an old fanfic which I am revamping will be on there way soon, as well as some new Undertale comics! So, I'm so sorry I haven't been uploading, but now I'm back and new content will be soon to follow! Thank you all for the support!
