The Last Wolf

The Mall

The tears were fighting their way out, but I was staying strong. This surprised me because usually when I start I can't stop them.

"Leah are you sure you okay? You look like you are getting ready to cry."

"Yeah Rozada I'm fine. I just really wish Jace was here. I miss him so much. It feels like I'm missing a half of me and now there is a void that can't be filled."

"Leah it is okay. You got me."

"Yeah your right."

Finally I saw the mall and for some reason I felt like everything was going to be okay. I pulled into the mall parking lot and started looking for a spot.

"Leah right up there."

Rozada found me a parking spot right by the entrance; it was between a brand spanking new Nissan Altima, it was black, and a new Dodge Ram, it was pearl white. My car still looked better than both of them. I can guess what the owners looked like, the truck probably was a big muscled guy's truck just a toy he could show off to his friends and the car's owner was probably some business lady who did nothing but work. Sorry I'm rambling aren't I? Both Rozada and I got out of the car and when we got to the front of the car we linked arms like little kids, but who the eff cares?

"Rozada did I tell you how much I missed the moments like this?"

"Umm yes you did, but you can keep telling me." She said while laughing.

"So who is going to be here?"

"Just a few people I go to school with. You might remember some of them. I'm still hanging with the same crowd only there is a few more people have joined us because they were new. It was weird they all came at once and they live together. They all stuck together at first then they split off in the cliques. They all still kind of stick together, but not as much. Remember how we were the popular kids? Well I'm still in that clique. We got the most people and most of them were guys. The guys are pretty hot. We got a few girls too; they remind me of Megan Foxx and Angelina Jolie. They are pretty stuck up too, more than we were. Don't worry they aren't coming today."

What Rozada was saying made me think of a wolf pack relocating. Why would they have to relocate? I'm pretty sure that the way she was explaining it was that there was a wolf pack that moved here. This is pretty weird considering that wolf packs don't usually relocate or according to Jace they don't.

"Rozada did you say how many kids moved at once?"

"Leah it was quite a few, now exact numbers I don't know but I do know that there are at least fifteen new kids in the high school."

Fifteen isn't all that bad. So maybe it's a small pack and they got threatened so they left. Sounds like an innocent reason. I really hope that was the reason. We made it to the entrance and the mall made me think of all the good times that Rozada and I had here. It seems like yesterday we were eating pretzels at Auntie Anne's or getting Dippin Dots, we always shared.

"Rozada before we leave can we get Dippin Dots like we always did?"

"Yeah, just like the old days huh? Remember the one time we got kicked out?"

"Wow how can I forget?"

One day Rozada and I were trying everything on in the stores and by everything I mean everything. We were in the most expensive stores trying on the most expensive things. Well I guess all the stores were talking and they found out we weren't buying anything from anyone. So they called security and security said we had to buy something or leave, well we had no money so they had to kick us out. Not before we went to the bathroom, which had another exit on the other side. So we snuck out and started creating chaos. We screamed down the halls. The security guards finally caught on that we snuck out and decided to come after us. Rozada and I took off full speed. They cheated, they had scooters. So push comes to shove we got kicked out and weren't able to go to the mall for a month. We finally were able to go to the mall after that month, but on last warning. I remember the times we sucked up to the security guards with cookies and cakes. Finally we were off last warning cause of the sucking up we did, well at least it worked.

"I miss those days, before Jace and Shayne. Back when I was still a naïve little human." I told her.

"Don't worry Leah you can't change the past, but you can control your future."

"Yeah I guess so. So where are we supposed to be meeting everyone?"

"At Auntie Anne's Pretzels."

"Really? Wanna share a pretzel like the good ole days?"

"You know it Leah."

We still had our arms linked as we were walking through the whole mall. I was boy watching just for the fun of it and to get my mind off of other matters. There weren't that many cute boys here at the mall today. 'Damn what's that smell? It stinks.' When I look for the source of that smell I see blond hair walking the opposite way that Rozada and I are. The back of that head reminds me of Shayne; if he is here I can bet he is going to try something. When that happens one of us isn't going to make it out alive.

"Leah do you want to go into Victoria's Secret?"

"Ha-ha wow don't you know that is my favorite store? I just wish it wasn't so expensive, I mean I have enough money, but I don't like spending lots of money at one store."

"Yeah so where do you get your money?"

Should I explain that my pack has a fund or just say I have saved? Well packs tend to have pack funds just in case they have to do anything... Like move or emergency with one of the members.

"Well Rozada there is the money I have earned and saved, and then there is the pack money. The pack money is the money that the pack earned and saved together."

"Oh well I guess that makes sense, so what money are you using."

"Mostly mine, but if I need more I will use the pack fund." Since there is no pack.

Through all of the talking we made it to Victoria's Secret, I instantly went over to the lingerie section just to browse for some new bras and underwear, if you want to call it that. I was searching in the clearance bin when I smelled something delicious smelling and it made my mouth water and stomach growl. It had the smell of axe and something else I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Oh I know Aunt Anne's Pretzels; someone walking by must have had some.

I didn't feel like doing any more shopping so we left Victoria's Secret with nothing. We made our way to Aunt Anne's Pretzels where Rozada said we were supposed to meet some people before we got to the movies to see some new movie.

While we were in line I smelled something that didn't quite agree with me. I looked around and thought I saw Shayne, but I did a double take and he wasn't there. I swear if he is here someone is going to get hurt and possible end up dead. And it is not going to be me. Then another smell took the place of the other smell, this one agreed with me, well more than agreed with me. I was in love with this smell. Like I did with the other smell I looked around but I couldn't tell where the smell came from. The more I smell it the more I realize that there is a woodsy smell to it, woods combined with Axe is a really good combo.

I grab Rozada by the arm and say softly "Rozada don't be freaked out, but there is another wolf here."
