"You only see the corner of it and you decide to pull it out from the stack. It's a birth certificate."
Now you're sitting here, behind the bar. It had been four days since Vincent left and one day since you found all the papers. You can't think properly without having Vincent to cross your mind. Where would he be? Is he safe? etc. etc. etc. Get over yourself Emma! You tried already a million times. In the end, he's nothing more than just your boss, right?
You sigh, nothing more than your boss. You'd wish he was more, until now that you know what kind of secrets he had hidden for you. Like, he isn't obligated to tell you everything. But a small explanation would've been appreciated. He could've just said "hey yeah I have a past that tries to catch things up with me, so if random people try to do things to me, I might pretend that you mean nothing to me and that you're just a maid but i don't mean any of that cause i really like you and you should just ignore that all etc." then it would've been fine by you.
On the other hand, maybe he didn't expect his past to catch up with him? maybe he thought he was well hidden? And that he took care of everything, yet he didn't realize he overlooked something small that could've let to something big?
damn, you cant blame him Emma! He couldn't know... Well, he could but he didn't. So yeah, now you're here.
ANYWAY, you say out loud when you realize you've been rambling to yourself.
After reading every single piece at least three times, the birth certificate still confuses you the most. You shake your head, this can't be him? You put the certificate away and take another piece of paper.
A newspaper huh?
Nothing suspicious about it. December 15th, 1989. a day before Vincent's day of birth.
You read the smallest article, it's about the new major in town. Nothing interesting to be honest. The biggest article has blue lines under random letters, oh, the others have too? How come you didn't notice?
You walk over to Vincent's room and get one of his notebooks, you browse through a few of them. Once you found an empty one, you take it together with a pen and you walk back to the kitchen.
Per article you write down the letters, who don't form any normal words. When you finished writing down all the letters, you realize it's a puzzle.
Article 1: "ska"
Article 2: "hte"
Article 3: "strawise"
Article 4: "ta"
Article 5: "efofec"
Article 6: "baLoC"
ska hte strawise ta efofec baLoc... ask the waitress at coffee CoLab?!
"O MY GOD, I finished the puzzle!" you shout, putting your hands in front of your mouth right after you did.
You grab all the pieces of paper, except for the newspaper, and hide them. You carefully fold the newspaper and put it in your bag. You get your jacket, lock the door, check trice and walk outside, on your way to Coffee CoLab.
