Colby woke up from his slumber. If you can call it that, he couldn't close his eyes until 6:00AM. He was paranoid that he would harm Brennen, hurt him, kill him. A shiver ran through his spine plainly from the thought of Brennen getting injured because of him. He stretched on his bed and yawned broadly. He was shocked when he looked in the mirror. It was as if he wasn't even himself anymore. He felt like he was in...a new body. Not in a good way. There were large dark bags under his dull eyes and his hair was so oily, it looked like it was wet. He hadn't been taking care of himself as usual, so his skin was so dry, it was flaky and he found random itches and scabs all over his body. "Shit," he mumbled to himself in the mirror. Quietly digging through Brennen's clothes, he pulled out underwear, a large sweater, some socks, and basketball shorts that seemed a tad too big for his small body. He grabbed a towel and made his way into the bathroom. He turned the nob, cold water sprinkling down, until it was finally the perfect temperature. Stripping his clothes off, he stepped into the shower, sighing when the hot water hit against his backside. He used Brennen's products to clean himself and stepped out the shower. After getting dressed, he walked out and peered around the corner to see Brennen asleep on his couch. He felt guilty for worrying him, it was all his fault anyways. He was the one who agreed to go to that stupid abandoned house. Walking to the kitchen quietly, he grabbed a bag of chips and opened them as quietly as he could. Although the bag of chips was small, he wasn't able to finish it. "Morning..." a rough voice came from behind Colby. Brennen walked up barefooted and his hair tangled into bunches. He popped a chip in his mouth and sat in front of the blue eyed boy. Colby responded with a meek noise. After a minute or two of looking at the ground and chewing, Brennen spoke up. "When does Sam get out?" Colby froze, but shook it out of him. "I think in a...a week or so." Brennen nodded slowly, looking at Colby with sympathy. It shocked him how one day when he saw him, he was full of light and energy... he was a happy teenage boy. And now, all color had drained from his face and there was no light or energy to be found.. just sadness, guilt, and agony. "Let's get you dressed and a proper breakfast. We're going to see Sam today. I know how much you want to see him.." he said, getting up from his chair and gently grabbing Colby's wrist. Colby limped to Brennen's room. His legs felt weak and shaky, making him unable to run or even walk properly. Brennen sat him on the bed as if he were a child, and pulled out a pair of black jeans. "There's really no point in changing your sweater.. do you want to dress yourself or...?" Brennen asked awkwardly. Colby looked up at him with pleading eyes. He felt like he could barely move his arms, like hell he'd get dressed him self. He nodded in understanding and swiftly took of his basketball shorts. He wrapped his arms around his waist, pulling him up and slipping the jeans on. He buttoned up the pants and slipped a belt through the loops so they wouldn't hang to low on his slim body. He started playing around with his hair, pushing it to the side. "So.. what do you want for breakfast? I have cereal and bread.. I can make some toast.. oh, and I even have eggs.. that's it really. I don't cook home often, you know that" Brennen said. Colby flashed a small smile. "Cereal is fine" he said in a soft voice. Brennen rushed out of the room to make him a bowl of cereal, quickly returning with milk and bits of cereal spilling from the bowl. He handed him a spoon and watched him eat. Kobe hopped onto the bed, sniffing and circling Colby. He started to whine and backed up, hopping onto Brennen's lap. He noticed something was wrong, but he decided to keep quiet. He didn't want to ruin the bit of happiness Colby had at the moment. After he finished his cereal, they made their way into the car, and to the hospital. "Brennen.." Colby spoke up for the first time in forever. "Yes?" He responded back, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Last night.. I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking.. what if I hurt you? What if-what if I killed you?" Colby confessed, choking back tears. This made Brennen's blood run cold and his hands tighten around the wheel. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't scared of Colby doing the exact same thing he just confessed. But, hearing it now... it made him realize how much in danger he could've been. He didn't want to abandon his friend, nor did he want to demonize him. But then again, he couldn't help but think, would it have been best for him to keep his distance? Would it have been best to never let him into his home? His oh so welcoming and comforting home? He didn't know what to think... they stayed silent until they got to the hospital. The world around them suddenly seemed gloomy, and everything seemed lifeless. He still couldn't believe it. He couldn't believe everything he was going through. He couldn't imagine how rough it was for Sam and Colby, the iconic duo. "Ready to see Sam?" Brennen asked. "Not really.. but I'm still happy, I guess. It has felt like ages since I've seen him..." Colby said, opening the car door and cutely jumping out. Brennen smiled at his childness. Tears welled up in his eyes once again. He felt like his innocence and youth was coming back to him again. He felt like the old Colby was returning, slowly but surely.
