Chapter 5

Vladislav's P.O.V.

I watched as Bella falls asleep, quickly I take my phone out of my pocket and call Dmitry.

"Hello Alpha. What can I do for you this evening?"

"Hello uncle, I need you to have your staff excuse the assignments Annabella miss due to her being in the hospital. Please make sure she has all passing grades."

"Yes sir, I will talk to all of her teachers. Do they have him in custody?" He spit out venom at the thought of the man who almost killed his Luna. .

"Yes he is in custody. She woke up today, I'm relieved, I'm going to tell her after I gain her trust. Her neighbors who found her know about us their daughter in-law is the betas daughter to my cousins pack."

"Ah Alpha Kalub I presume?"

"Yes. The man Henry is the one who saved her life. They're with her now. No one else has come to see her, it makes me angry, none of her family have visited to make sure she is alright, I plan on giving them a visit."

A young nurse walk up to me. "Vlad sir, the girl is asking for you." I nod letting her know I heard what she said..

"I have to go Dmitry, the Luna needs my presence."

"Yes sir."

I walk over to her looking down at her, I smile at her.

"Hello angel."

"Hi." She shifts now laying on her side.

"You shouldn't lay like that your ribs, they can break them again easily. She winces and lays on her back again. "Can I ask you a question?"

I noticed she seemed uneasy. "Sure why not?"

"Why didn't your parents visit? I stayed with you the last 2 weeks and the only people who visited you were Henry and Gillian." I saw her tense up and tears started gathering in her eyes. Damian whimpered. "You don't have to-"

"No its ok. I um, its um it HAS to stay between us though. I'm not sure if I can trust you or not but since you're the only person I know here I should probably tell you."

I just look at her as tears slide down her face I carefully wipe it away. "Swear on my life your secret is safe with me. You can tell me."

"I have to ask you a question first."

"Anything." I reassure her, grabbing her hand.

"Is the man who did this to me still out there?" I shake my head.

"No he's been in jail since that night he attacked you. He will never hurt you again."

"My mom died a year ago from cancer. My father abandoned us 5 years ago." Her face goes blank as if she were in a trance. I clear my throat.

"Oh I'm sorry." I mutter I can tell shes holding something back but I'm not going to push it out of her. I wipe another tear from her face she winces as I graze one of the bruises on her face. "I'm sorry."

Annabellas P. O. V.

He looks at me nervously. "Can I ask you something?" I stiffen with the situation I'm stuck in I'm probably not going to like this. I swallow hard.

"Sure why not?"

"Why didn't your parents visit? I stayed with you the last 2 weeks and the only people who visited you were Henry and Gillian." Flashbacks rush over me. The one question I was hoping he wouldn't ask me.

He'd jus think of me as the poor girl with the dead mom and the father that put me in the hospital. I try to blink away tears. "You don't have to a-"

I quickly interrupted him. "No its ok. I um, its um it HAS to stay between us though. I'm not sure if I can trust you or not but since you're the only person I know here I should probably tell you." I start to fidget with nervousness. A tears escapes from my eyes. I go to wipe them away but he beat me to it. Vlad wipes it away so carefully like he was afraid I would break.

"Swear on my life your secret is safe with me. You can tell me." My heart skips a beat and I take a deep breath. I think for a second, what if he's still out there? What if he comes to finish the job?

Before I can stop myself I say. "I have to ask you a question first."

"Anything." He grabs my hand and sparks instantly shock me.

My breath starts to quicken "Is the man who did this to me still out there?" He shakes his head I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"No he's been in jail since that night he attacked you. He will never hurt you again." I wanted to scoff he's been in jail 3 times if he wants me dead he'll find away.

I took another slow deep breath as I remember the day my mom past away.

I was sitting there for 2 hours as she took shallow breaths. "Its ok baby everything will be ok, I promise."

I could help but cry the strongest woman I'd ever met in my life was going to die right in front of me. "Its ok mommy, I know I'll be ok. I love you it's ok to let go." I let out another sob.

"Come here Anna." I sit on her bed and snuggle close trying not to hurt her. "You are strong ok? Don't be like me don't give up." I nod. "Promise me Annabella."

"I promise Mama, I promise." We sat there until she took her last breath. "NO MOMMY PLEASE COME BACK I CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU PLEASE!" I start screaming the nurses pull me out of the room I tried to cling on to her gown.

I hear someone clearing their throat snapping me out of my flashback. "My mom died a year ago from cancer and my father abandoned us 5 years ago." Then came back and almost killed me.

"Oh I'm sorry." I heard him mumble, more tears escape from my eyes and he wipes them away again accidently brushing a bruise, I try not to show it hurt but failed, he stiffened. "I'm sorry."
