Rose POV

"It is nice to meet you, Sir, Madame and Young Master." I curtsied with the proper etiquette embedded into me.
"Likewise. We request that you guard our youngest daughter." Father had nervously spoken the words. No, it's Comenanci Duke now.
"Specifically, is there any threat that I should be notified beforehand?"
"Not that we know of as of yet. We are still currently investigating yet there is tension in the capital due to the battle for the throne between the three princes. They will be attending the St. Clover Academy where the factions will truly start the war."
"I see. I will take proper counter measures. The payment can be paid in full at the end of the request. Is there anything else?"
"N-No. Thank you for accepting."
"I am only doing my job. Please excuse me." I stood and curtsied before heading towards the double doors.
"Wait!" The Madam called out towards me and I stopped. I turned to face her from a distance, gazing into her blue eyes.
"Is there something you would like to inquire, Madam?"
The Duchess trembled and lowered her head before whispering, "Have you been well?"
Silence treaded the room. The breaths of my parents and brother froze and only the sound of the clock ticked along.
I turned my back towards her. "Better than here," I softly answered. I opened the door and went through, closing it shut gently. Momentarily, my thoughts scrambled.
[Was I too mean?]
I sighed. [Kuro was right. I shouldn't have come here.]
I continued on my way, ignoring the sobs and voices in the room I left.
However, right away, I regretted my decision. I was not ready to meet the person I would be escorting. With her lovely green eyes and silky blonde hair, a young maiden paced in front of the door to my room. When I was near her, she turned and a rosy blush and brilliant smile lit her face.
"Sister!"
I encountered my younger sister, Jolie Comenanci.

Third Person POV

Kuro drowsily awoke, instigated by crashes of lightning and signs of a storm. He narrowed his eyes and his pupils constricted before shadows and dark magic surrounded his body. The smog disappeared and revealed a large wolf the size of the mattress.
His eyes were golden and his canines were sharper. Sensing magic gathering in the air, he dived into the shadows and gathered his form outside in the shade.
"Something is inside the city." Kuro sniffed the air before telepathically sending a message to Rose.
Meanwhile...
Rose faced her sister with a stoic expression.
Jolie jumped onto her sister and one sidedly embraced her.
"Sister! I've missed you! How have you been? Where have you been? Why did you leave?"
A rapid fire of questions pestered Rose. Inside, she was inwardly trying to find a way out of the situation and escape. It was laughable for someone like her who was S-Class to not be able to evade such a situation.
She breathed and calmed her mind before slowly and gently breaking out of the bear hug. She took a few steps back and curtsied.
"I am Rose and from today on, I will be your bodyguard and escort. You will receive further details from Master and Madam in the living room."
Jolie had a confused expression on her face.
"Sister? What do you-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Rose jolted and immediately opened her door with a bang. A large wolf stood there with a regal air, awaiting her presence.
"Sister, what-"
"No time Young Mistress. Please immediately notify your parents of your whereabouts and safety in the living room."
Rose muttered a few words and an invisible barrier surrounded Jolie like armor.
"Let's go, Kuro!"
Rose's attire was immediately replaced with her adventurer's clothing. She jumped onto Kuro's back with ease and he jumped out of the window with agility, her silver hair flying behind her.
Jolie, shocked, broke out of her stupor and rushed to her parents, ready to barricade them with an intense interrogation session.

"Kuro, what's the situation?"
"Fluctuations in magical power are steadily increasing and several magicians are releasing large amounts of magical power for a spell."
I gripped onto his fur as we traveled through the shadows towards the origin of the magic.
"It seems like there is something else happening that we do not know about." Kuro noted.
I narrowed my eyes as my mind processed the information, eliminating the possibilities and narrowing them down to a few.
"Do you think it's a rebellious act against the church?"
"There are no signs of it being in relation to heretic magic though."
"Then are they summoning something?"
"It is more likely that it's a decoy plan. Intruders can probably cross here with ease with all this commotion."
"I see. I'll cast a barrier for now and record every single person in the capital right now. It will be a large spell so send the information to Theo for me, Kuro."
Kuro sped up and growled in agreement as I began casting the spell. My mana gathered, draining all of my power as I created an invisible barrier that placed a tracker on everyone in the capital.
By body lost strength and I collapsed on Kuro's back.
I grabbed the mana potion and chugged it before tossing it into my bag as relief spread throughout my body.
"We're here." Kuro came to an abrupt stop. Cloaked in black cloaks and sinister masks, they were chanting as one, their magic creating the lightning and storms.
Ugh. Your home is the worst. It stinks of impurities.
Kuro, I'm summoning Shiro. Don't argue with her, please.
Truce for five minutes.
I'm not giving you any jerky for a week.
Hey! Don't torture me!
Well?
Fine. For an hour.
Perfect.

The conversation ended with my victory and I quickly chanted. White light surrounded me and a large wolf the size of Kuro with a pure white coat appeared before me.
Shiro! Sorry to disturb your training. We need help with controlling the situation.
Has that idiot beast finally admitted that I'm better than him?
Hey! You uptight weakling, I-
Both of you? Can you at least not argue when someone is trying to stir up chaos?
I sighed at the bickering canines and looked at the formation.
Looks like we'll have to nullify the entire spell before the Guards come here.
I telepathically break the argument between Kuro and Shiro and beckoned them.
"We'll have to absorb all the energy from the storm first. Shiro, Kuro, take in all the energy and transfer it to me as I take these idiots down."
The wolves nudged me with concern and worry.
"Don't worry. I'll be fine. They are not even that strong."
I kissed Shiro and Kuro on their fluffy heads and they raced off to the highest point in the capital.
I look up at the sky, the rain wetting my face and body. From my bag, I took out a black and white mask and hid my face. Two swords, one black and one white materialized in my gloved hands. I breathed momentarily before boosting myself with spells.
In a single move, I slash at the nerves of a black cloaked man, instantly making him unconscious.
Immediately, they notice the abnormality but it's already too late.
One down, 19 more to go.
