"So.." Maddie trails on. "Miss tough girl finally got some flirtation going on," she hit her shoulder to mine. "Am I right? Wink wink?"
"Ha ha. You're real good!" I scoff loudly. There's no way that was flirting. He had to help me up. I fell right at his feet. He couldn't just step over me and forget about me. Right? The way he was smiling at me though, kind of got to me. Kind of? Ha, more like really. No no, shut up.
"Oh shut up, really? You looked at him like he was some goddess. How could there not be some deep connection? Some sparks maybe?" She winked at me, imitating the boy. I felt my cheeks flushing. Crap. I ignored her statement. I walked back to where my skateboard hit the cement, to find it missing.
"Okay Maddie, where is it this time?" I look around her shoulder. She shrugged, obviously never caring for the thing. "Seriously. Where is it? Don't joke with me." I frantically scatter around. I eyeball everyone around. The dirty looks I got in response told me that no one knew.
As I turned to Maddie, my phone vibrated in my back pocket. Tossing it up and catching it, I look at the new text.
Unknown Number: I have your skateboard. Come find me (; xx
What the..? I respond immediately.
Destiny: Who the hell is this? I want it back, my property. xx
Who ever the hell this was, they were responding as if they were waiting frantically for my text back.
Unknown Number: Be nice about it love. Maybe if you were nice, I would tell you where I was. It's safe, no worries. xx
Destiny: Ok, can I please have my fucking property back. That's as nice as it's gonna get. xx
Unknown Number: Feisty. Go to Mocha Exprez. I'll have it all shined up for ya (; xx
Destiny: No don't call me Feisty creep. Be there soon, don't leave. xx
I toss my phone into my bag. "Where's uhm, Mocha Exprez?" Maddie gave me a confused look. She was just as puzzled as I was. This random guy just texts me, telling me to meet him somewhere. How did he get my number? My main question was what he wanted in return. I look up at Maddie, relieved to hear the words slip out of her mouth. "It's just around the corner from here. Why though?" She looked puzzled once again. I look for the words to say to set her off the subject of why. Nothing.
"Uhm, I just saw someone tweet about it. I want to try something new?" The words came out in a trample. Luckily Maddie believed me, taking my hand.
She dragged me the whole way to the odd-looking coffee shop. What is this place? I look up at the sign, the sign being worn out. The letters were barely visible, the color fading. Old age gleamed off the old building. The door creaked as we opened it, followed with a bell notifying that someone just came in. Right away, an older gal came out, greeting us with a smile. "How can I help you ladies?" She said, with a bright and welcoming smile plastered to her face. I waved, letting Maddie do the talking.
"We're just here to hang out for a bit. Is that alright?" Maddie questioned the waitress. The waitress nodded with the same huge smile. As soon as we walked away, a sigh was heard, followed with the creaking of the old western doors to the kitchen. I looked around the place, which was completely empty. What the-
