Matt adjusted his tie turning from side to side and craning his neck to insure that the back of his suit was wrinkle free. He stared a few more moments at his reflection before discarding the suit jacket and slipped on his green coat over the purple dress shirt. Looking good! He pointed his hands like pistols at the oversized mirror and winked. What's with the suit? Matt turned to see a smirking Tom in his door way. I'm taking (Y/N) on a date! He stated puffing out his chest in pride as he grabbed a small black box from the bed. Tom laughed as Matt proudly strode out the front door. He yelled at Edd who was mowing the lawn I'm taking the car see you in a few hours! And off he went!

Matt pulled up to the residence overflowing with confidence with one last check to ensure every hair was still perfectly in place. He marched up to the front door and was about to knock but her friends answered the door. Before he could speak Rain held up her hand to stop him. We had a lengthy discussion her curfew is ten and we're having a sleepover here so we'll know if she's late. The trio walked away without another word Matt shuddered. Seconds later (Y/N) skipped down the stairs gave her friends a goodbye hug and left. Once in the vehicle as they pulled out Matt turned to her. I like your friends their really nice but their awfully scary. Another shudder went down his spine and (Y/N) laughed as they pulled up to the restaurant. It was an outdoor cafe with candle lighting and the awning that had been extended throughout the day was pulled back allowing customers to dine in full view of the stars. Matt and (Y/N) walked up the polished steps and sat down at a reserved table. It was next to the stairs a deep purple cloth draped neatly over it and from the metal frame covered in vines hung smaller candles. (Y/N) gave Matt a big hug before sitting down. After pushing his dates chair in he walked over to his seat grasping at the box in his pocket a pang of nervousness in his gut. They ordered and began to eat sipping wine as a violinist played a happy tune setting the mood. (Y/N) blushed deeply This is amazing! how long have you been planning this? Matt blushed back a big adorable grin spreading across his face. Well we accidentally saved the owner from a zombie apocalypse so he owes each of us a favor this was mine! She smiled extremely flattered and they continued to converse. They spoke about recent events, future plans the usual. Matt kept one hand in his pocket until he finally gathered enough courage. She was telling a story about the last sleepover she had with her friends and when she finished he hesitated for a moment then placed the box between them on the table. He smiled at her nervously looking between (Y/N) and the gift. She gaped for a moment this was completely unexpected then gingerly picked it up. A moment of tension came and went as she opened it. Inside sat a beautiful gold locket. Engraved in the top was her name and on the bottom the heartfelt words "you're even prettier then me." Between the engraving was a silver tree it's leaves many colors and it was set against a white background. Tears overflowed and fell down her face as she opened it a mirror on one half and on the other a picture of Matt as though he were looking into the mirror when the locket was closed. They left the restaurant shortly after and pulled into her drive way at nine fifty eight. They exchanged one last long kiss before she made it to her door right at ten.
