Despite taking Kristoffer an hour doing whatever it is that he did, I actually enjoyed our so-called date.

I guess Kristoffer felt bad for leaving me at the table, even sending a waiter to entertain me, that he also took me for ice cream.

"Date ba to?" I asked as we stepped in the shop.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kristoffer but never in my life would want him in that way.

"Kala mo papatusin kita? No way." He scoffed, disgust written all over his face.

"Yabang nito." I muttered, punching his side. "Isang hindi na lang, eh. Dami pang satsat."

Kristoffer found us a seat near the counter and I followed his suit. He went to order for us and I pulled out my phone once he was out of my radius.

I sighed. No new messages from him. Like I was expecting or anything.

Still, my finger hovered over the keyboard, contemplating whether or whether not I should message him.

Hi.

Really?

I miss you.

Erase.

How are you?

No, no that won't do.

Hey, Alden! I'm really sorry if I came in too strong and accidentally drunk texted you and kinda made things awkward (is it just me?) between us. Sorry if I freaked you out or something. I just really like you, you know? I'm not sure if you even like me as half as I do. Maybe I'm insecure or desperate or baka hinohopia ko lang sarili ko. Ewan ko ba. You're so confusing. Sometimes I just wanna straight up ask you out. Lol. Kainis ka.

Ha. Like I would ever send that.

"Si RJ?"

Kristoffer's voice startled, making me drop my phone. I saw him about to get it for me but realizing that my Twitter app was open, I panicked and scrambled to get it myself.

"Geez, settle down. Okay lang na aminin mo." He chuckled as he took a seat and handing me my cup.

"Ha?"

"Chinecheck mo kung may message, diba?" He raised an eyebrow as he took a spoonful of vanilla ice cream.

I scrunched my nose. How could anyone like vanilla? It's so vanilla-ey.

"Hindi kaya." I tried to say convincingly.

I saw Kristoffer gave me a look before shaking his head. "Okay."

"Kala mo sakin walang kaibigan?"

"Mhm." He hummed, taking yet another spoonful of boring ass flavored ice cream, only triggering my emotions more.

"Bakit ko naman hihintayin message niya? Ano ba niya ko, ano ko ba siya? Wala naman akong karapatan maging clingy diba?"

"That's not—"

"And why would I waste time on someone di naman ako kayang panghawakan?" I breathed out, not even realizing that I was full on ranting. Kristoffer was looking at me in amusement as I slouched on the seat.

"Bakit ang unfair ng life, Mars?" I sighed. "Pangit ba ko?"

Instead of comforting me like a normal best friend would, Kristoffer chuckled and stood up to pat my back.

Wow, so reassuring.

He leaned down my ear and whispered, "Hay nako. Hindi na lang, eh. Dami pang satsat."

I was about to clock him when he suddenly dashed, fully knowing I was about to beat him up.

"Get me another cup, asshole!" I called out to him, looking at my empty cup. I deserved flavors, not flavor.

I got out my phone again and unlocked it. Maybe I should message him first, I mean there's no harm in a girl making the first move, right?

I clicked Twitter and opened my messages.

And I swear to God, in that moment, my soul left my body.

This. This is the end of one Nicomaine Dei C. Mendoza.
