Juniper's POV

*flashback*

"Mommy, I don't want to move into a new house! I don't want a new school! I don't want new friends!" a 7 year old me complained. "Don't be silly, Hun. You're going to have fun at your new school and I'm sure you will find some great friends. We needed to move because daddy got a job in this area. If you want, I can take you out for ice cream after we arrive at our new home." chirped my mother sweetly. "Okay..." I mumbled, squirming around in my carseat and peering out the window. My father pulled the car I to a driveway of a beautiful, white and beige house. It wasn't small, but it wasn't huge. It was perfect. "It's beautiful!! I love it! Thank you mommy and daddy!" "Haha, you're welcome, Junebug." said my dad. He unlocked the door for me and I marvelled at the spacious area. My mom smiled at me, "You can go pick your very own room, then I can take you for ice cream later once we get our boxes in the house." I simply nodded and wandered upstairs to find a nice room. Settling with a decent sized bedroom situated at the end of the corridor, I peered out the large window of my new bedroom. Across from my window was another window belonging to the neighbours next door. Curious, I peeked even more and I saw a boy about my age, maybe a little older staring back at me. We met eye contact and he disappeared. Hmph. Boys are weird. "Juniper! I invited the neighbors for ice cream as well! Is that okay with you?" my mommy shouted cheerfull from downstairs. Even if I did object, she'd still invite them anyway. "Okay" I shouted back. We left the house and knocked on the neighbor's door. A cheerful  hispanic woman opened the door, grinning and shook my parent's hands. "You must be the Harris family! I'm Mrs. Perry." she beamed. "And who is this pretty princess here?" she asks, bending down to my level. "Juniper..." I mumbled shyly. I'm not very fond of meeting new people. "Shall we get going for ice cream? It's just right down the block and it'll only be a short walk." she warbled. 'TONY! COME DOWNSTAIRS! WE'RE GOING OUT FOR ICE CREAM!" Mrs. Perry shouted. The boy I saw through the window earlier stumbled down the stairs and scurried up beside his mom. He gripped onto his mother's hand and shyly looked at the ground. We began walking down the side walk and I noticed Tony glancing at me every now and then. WE stopped at a crosswalk, waiting for the signal to cross. "Juniper, hold onto Tony's hand while we cross." said my mom. His eyes widened and looked at his mom, who had her purse in one hand and a coffee thermos in the other. "Go on, Tony. We don't want to get separated now, do we?" she said. Tony looked at me and his face turned pink, even though the weater wasn't too warm or too cold. His hand latched onto mine and we crossed the street in an awkward silence. I couldn't take the awkward-ness of this so I decided to make small talk. "So Tony... How old are you?" I asked.

"Eight. how about you?"

"Seven and a half."

"Oh."

"Where's your dad? Is he at work?" I questioned.

"He's in heaven. You're being very nosy right now." he replied. (A/N I know Tony's died when he was 10, but this ficton so lets pretend for now)

"I'm sorry."

He let go of my hand and took the vanilla cone his mother handed him.

*Later back at home*

Tony's POV (still in flashback)

"What do you think of Juniper, Tony? Isn't she a nice girl?" my mom asked. "She asked me about dad. And I told her she was being nosy." I responded. "Well that wan't very nice of you. Juniper was only trying to make small talk with you." she said. I went back to my room and looked out my window. I know I'm only eight, but I think I really like Juniper. I saw a light flicker on and there she was, looking out the window at me, her eyes maybe a little sad. Was I that harsh? I grabbed my sketch book at a fat marker and wrote "I'm sorry." on it and pressed against the window for her to see. She squinted to read it and got some paper and a marker and wrote back "Its okay. Friends?" She smiled. I nodded my head and wrote "Good night" with a smiley face and turned out the light.

*Through the years*

Juniper's POV

Through the years, Tony and I's friendship grew bigger and bigger. We started hanging out almost every day and he visited my house so often that it was technically like he was part of my family. Tony also learned how to play guitar and would occasionally play some songs for me. I have to say, I think I may have a crush on him...

I woke up one morning and decided to go over to Tony's house. I knocked on the Perry's house and waited for Tony to answer it like usual. Instead, his mother answered the door. "Is Tony here?" I asked. "Oh hun, I'm sorry, but Tony left with some friends. He did write a note for you though." She gave me a folded pieced of paper with his handwriting on it. It read:

"Dear Juniper,

If you're reading this, you may be wondering where I am. I left to go tour with my friend's band. I'm sorry for not telling you this earlier. I'll really miss you, but this is my career and my dream and I can't let that slip away from my hands. Don't bother looking for me, I truly am sorry for this but I hope our friendship can still last when I come back.

Love, Tony"

It hit me like a ton of bricks. And he didn't even want me to come to his shows. I couldn't control the tears that spilled from my eyes. "Aw hun, shh, don't cry." Mrs. Perry cooed, pulling me into a hug. I then trudged home, still clutching the letter in my hands. Fuck you, Tony. Fuck. You.
