Chapter 20/Epilogue

Summer, Five Years Later
Venus' POV
"When's Daddy coming home?! Come on Mama, tell me please!!"
I glared down at our daughter. "Charlotte Cecily Snape!!! What did I tell you about patience? He'll be here when he gets here."
Her lips turned down in a pout, and I watched as she turned away, and ran back into the living room of the cottage, long black hair flying behind her.
She was only five and she already had my fiery nature.
I shook my head, chuckling to myself. I stood up from the kitchen table to put some water on for dinner, and some water in the kettle for some tea. As I did, I admired the moving photograph on the windowsill.
Smiles lined our faces as Sev and I danced at our wedding. It was such a candid, genuine moment; one that I was glad my mother had caught just in time.
The sound of the door opening broke me out of my reverie, and that was when I heard Charlotte's excited squeal.
I was just walking into the living room, as she jumped into Sev's arms, causing him to drop his things.
After the Battle of Hogwarts, and the vanquishing of Voldemort by Harry Potter, Severus had retired from Hogwarts, and instead took a job as a Healer at St. Mungos. He was highly acclaimed for, due to his part in saving the Wizarding World as a double agent. He went back once in awhile to teach a specialty class at Hogwarts, one that has always been his true passion: Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Severus smiled down at our daughter.
"It seems someone missed me."
Charlotte gave him a look that rivaled his own. "I always miss you when you go to work."
Severus kissed her on the forehead, as her little hands wrapped around his neck in a hug.
She jumped down, and ran back to the couch, and I approached him, smirking.
"She's not the only one who misses you."
He gave me an attractive smirk, as he pulled me closer to him, leaning in to kiss me.
"Mom, Dad!!! I'm in the room!" I heard Charlotte exclaim.
Sev and I looked at each other, and we both broke out in a laugh.
As if reading my mind, the front door opened, and my mother walked in.
Charlotte jumped off the couch, and ran to her grandmother.
"Grandma DeeDee!!"
My mother laughed in glee as my daughter hugged her legs.
I smiled. "Hi, Mom. Come to pick her up?"
My mother nodded. "I'll have her back tomorrow."
I nodded in agreement, and turned to Charlotte.
I kneeled down in front of her. "Behave. Promise?"
She held out her pinky and I connected mine with hers.
"Pinky promise." She smiled, a glint in her eye.
I laughed. "Good. Now go get your overnight things."

After bidding my mother and Charlotte goodbye, I shut the door. I didn't even have time to take a breath, before Sev's arms were around my waist from behind.
"Alone at last."
I shivered, because after all this time, he still had that effect over me.
"Indeed." I managed to say, as his hands started caressing me.
He turned me around in his arms, so I was facing him. He observed me for a moment before speaking.
"You look beautiful." He said, eyes drinking me in.
I rose an eyebrow playfully. "Do I now?"
His lips turned up into a dark smirk. "Indeed."
I wrapped my arms gently around his neck. "Whatever will we do about this?"
His hand found the back of my neck, urging me closer. His smoldering look made my knees weak.
"There's only one thing to do."
We kissed.
Desire and passion came all at once, and I allowed him to take me up to our bedroom.
I could feel the temperature rising as he laid me on the bed.
He watched as I undressed myself, never tearing my eyes away from his. I sat up then, and gripped the collar of his cape, unfastening it, tossing it aside.
I gripped the hem of his shirt, pulling him down to me, our lips inches apart.
Our eyes met.

"Welcome home." I whispered.

And welcomed, it was.
