"I've had it enough dad! I'm not gonna stay here any longer with your ego." I yelled at as I made my way through the hallway to the main door with my bags.
"Lisa! Get back to your room right now! Lisa!!!" My dad yelled behind me as he tried to stop me.
"No dad, not this time. I've listened to you all my life, not today. I hate you dad! I hate you!" I cried.
I opened the door and rushed to the Chevy waiting outside. I opened the back door of the car and threw my luggage in and sat on the passenger seat in the front.
"You ready?" Edie asked.
"Lisa, get back here!" I heard my dad calling.
I ignored him and said to to Edie, "Step on it!" and following my command at the next second, the Chevy started moving. I looked into the side mirror of the car and noticed my dad running behind the car, asking me to stop but the car won't stop.
Tears welled up in my eyes watching my old man running behind a car, trying to stop me.
The car had made its way out of the small town of Kendall, near Miami, on the highway. I was on my way to the Miami airport to get on a flight to Toronto, Canada. Driving the car is my best friend Edie, Edward Johnson. We're friends since we were kids. Grown up together. No we are not running away to get married. He's helping me to run away to help me set my career.
Edie turned on the radio and a Bryan Adams song played through the speakers. The only line I heard was... "EVERYTHING I DO, DO IT FOR YOU" I loved the song but right now, I am so disturbed, I cannot help myself stop crying.
Edie asked, "Hey, are you alright?"
I wiped off my tears and said, "Yeah."
I changed the channel and put on some rock music to avoid the emotional tension building up.
And hour later, the car stopped in the parking area of the Miami Airport. Endie said, "We reach our destination, Lizzie."
I came back into the real world after getting lost in an unknown dream world which took over me all along the drive. I got out of the car and got my luggage from the back seat. Edie helped me carry them and put them on a troly. We walked in silence to the Airport doors.
We stopped at the entrance and I turned to him. "So, here I go."
"Yes. To get what you wanted. Your dream job!" He smiled.
I tried to smile but it went off as soon as it appeared. "Edie? You'll miss me, right?"
"Everyday, Lizzie."
"Will you do me a favour?"
He gave me a puzzled look and asked, "What?"
"Will you take care of dad? And try to convince him the reasons I am doing this?"
"Of course, Lisa, That's an unsaid command we have to follow. Don't you worry about it, okay? My parents and I will get him convinced."
I nodded. "Thanks. Please remind him about his medicines, he often forgets them."
"Sure."
I stared at him.
"I love you, Edie. Thank you for helping me out today. I don't know how would I have done this without you."
"Oh Lizzie, you don't have to thank me. You remember our rule, right? And don't you worry about your dad. We will take care of him. You just carry on with your job."
I nodded and stepped forward and gave him a tight hug. I said, "I'll miss you, Edie. I hope I'll be able to manage there alone."
"You will, trust me."
I pulled apart and gave him a weak smile.
I smiled at me and said, "So, time to go, Izzie-Dizzie-Lizzie!" he said.
I smiled at him and then moved towards the door with the troly. Before entering into the gate, I turned aroung and waved a goodbye-hand to Edie and gave him a flying kiss. He did the same and I walked in.
