I'm Sorry

The sun shining brightly in her face

Her eyes squinted from gusts of wind

Misplaced strands of her hair

Using her hand as a shield from the light

she spoke softly

I'm sorry

For loving with this heart of mine

A love born to die

A fearful night

she apologized

The longing in her heart drowned out the sound

Of her soul breaking away

A flower

Picked and cared for In a beautiful vase it layed

Petals falling gracefully at the start

Violently at the end

Ripping it apart she spoke again

She loves me she loves me not

She loves me

Only one petals left

To spare her heart

Pain and regret

she walked away

Because she already knew

She loved me not

She never did

That last petal engraved itself into her very being

And slowly but surely like a flower

She her self withered away into nothing

Just a corpse

A hallowed out memory

Of love gone tragically wrong

She breathed

I'm sorry
