Friday
Lauren sat on her mother's bed while she watched her pack her suitcase for her trip to visit her sister. Clara was a terrible packer; she took too much and still managed to forget something. Camila had written up a check list for her but Clara lost it so she was just throwing anything and everything into her bag.
"Mom I highly doubt you're going to need this dress unless your sister is hosting a formal gathering and invited the Queen." Lauren spoke up as she held up a rather expensive and very elegant dress.
"You never know Lauren, if I don't pack it then I will probably end up regretting it." Clara replied a little flustered.
"Mom you're only going to be there for three days."
"Fine I won't take the dress but it will be your fault if I need to wear something nice and I have nothing to wear!"
Lauren just rolled her eyes as she put the dress back in her mom's closet. Speaking of closets Lauren hesitantly asked her mother.
"Are you going to tell them about me?"
"Huh? What do you mean?" Clara asked as she walked out of her bathroom dumping practically everything from the cabinets onto her bed.
Lauren sat down on the bed and quietly responded.
"About me being gay,"
Clara stopped what she was doing and moved around the bed and sat next to her daughter.
"Lauren you know I'm proud of you and I love the fact that you're a lesbian I have no problem shouting that from the roof tops. It's up to you if you want me to tell them. I'm not sure how they will react but I won't let them talk badly about you."
"But what if they disapprove? I don't want you to ruin your relationship with your sister because of me. I already ruined your marriage."
"Okay you can stop right there. You did not and I repeat you did not ruin my marriage. That was your father. Also I'm the older sister she will do as I say and if I say she needs to accept her gay niece then that's what she will do."
Lauren chuckled
"I was the older sister but that didn't work with me. Taylor was such a bitch sometimes"
"Hey, don't call your sister a bitch."
"But she is she took Michael's side in everything."
Clara sighed, losing her husband was hard but losing her youngest daughter was even harder. Even though Lauren was a daddy's girl, Taylor was always the favourite in Michael's eyes.
"I know." Clara sadly replied, she then smiled at her daughter
"Well there's always Normani. You're two months older than her so technically you can boss her around."
Lauren laughed
"Yeah mom, somehow I don't see Normani doing what I tell her to do, she would probably just beat me up."
"Well judging by her black eye it's not like you couldn't handle yourself though I really don't want to come back home and see you two with more battle wounds okay?"
"I promise to try and not beat her up." Lauren sighed
"Thank you, speaking of Normani where is she? I thought you two drove to school together today."
"We did, but she went out with Dinah for a while."
"Well I hope she comes back before I leave I don't want to go without saying goodbye."
