We are all mad here.

All of us are crazy in one way or another.

That girl in St. Mungo's Hospital? She was crazier than anyone that has ever stepped foot on earth, as the doctors said.

Ha. They had no idea.

She was crazy all right.

She was crazy because she knew. She has seen the gray, big cloud coming down. She had seen it coming. And it was coming fast, fast, fast. She screamed and cried, for they had to know too. They had to know that he was close. So, so, so dangerously close. They had to know of the dreams. The dreams of a green eyed boy and what he had gone through. The dreams of him and his inevitable rise to the power he so much seeked. A power that he was so close to now. They had to know of the war that had started just under their stupid, stupid, stupid noses. A war so heinous and so destructive, that she had to cover her ears, to stop the screams she heard at night and she had to rub and scratch my arms, to clean them from the blood. A war that had robbed her of everything, her parents, her sanity, her sleep.

But, no one believed her.

Because no one wanted it to be true.

But it was.

***

She was sitting on the bed, talking to the stars. She liked their company. They believed her, which of course didn't mean much, for they were the only ones safe from his wrath. She always felt the night was her home. In the darkness she was herself. There were no judging stares, no one to tell her what a crazy, crazy, crazy girl she was.

The door opened behind her, but she didn't bother turning around, she knew who it was.

"Albus, Severus. It was about damn time"

She heard a laugh from behind her. She knew that was Albus Dumbledore. She could picture him standing there, his knowing, blue eyes shining, his wrinkled skin and silver hair betraying his age, his glasses a bit askew on his nose. A man obviously wise.

"So, I take it you have been expecting us" a voice dry of emotion drawled. Severus Snape. Black, greasy hair, mouth that never smiled, eyes that never shone. A man so obviously pained from life.

"Are you kidding me? Of course I have. And you are late" she whirled around, facing them. If they spotted the madness in her eyes, they didn't show it. Or maybe they just expected it. Good, they knew what they were getting into.

"We have a proposition for you." Dumbledore paused to think something over "But I take it you know that already, no?"

"There isn't much I don't know, Albus. Which is a curse if you ask me, but who am I to complain?" she laughed bitterly, she thought of a muggle saying, oblivion is bliss, how very right that is... "Your proposition is as follows: you are going to clear my name, and in return, you want me to help you defeat him. Defeat Voldemort."

Dumbledore and Snape were taken aback, there was a certain fierceness to the way the girl spat the name of the darkest wizard of time. She wasn't afraid, she was angry. Albus proceeded to speak, but was cut off from the strange witch.

"You want me to go to Hogwarts and help Harry Potter and the... entourage, am I right? "

"That is what we need you for. Of course. But you, my dear are destined for far bigger things as I'm sure you know."

The girl gave a curt nod. Of course she knew. She was Nyx Belladona Ambrosius, descendant of the Magician, after all. A girl so obviously ment to be great.

And that is how her story begun. With those three in the room of the hospital.

The wise.

The pained.

The great.
