The Challenge

I heard a knock at the door that frightened me and I threw the knife I was holding it impaled the door with a thud. "Fallon!!!" is all I heard before Simon was almost breaking down my door trying to get into my room. I opened my door and he must have been pushing it with his body because when I opened the door Simon fell right in.

I looked at the clock on my night stand it read 2:00 am. "Simon what do you need. Do you not know what time it is?" I said. "I saw Mrs.Maguire working on a computer in the entertainment car.I waited for her to leave then I looked into what she was searching. She was searching death and life records of all of The Challenge candidates from are colony. I printed the records then erased the trace that I printed it."He said.

"I didn't know you were good with computers." I said . "Well yeah my dad is in charge of birth and death records for are colony. You think he does that all by hand on paper." He said. "No I didn't think he did it all by hand but I didn't figure he would let you use his computer."I said.

"Any way what is the big deal about what Mrs.Maguire searched?"I said. "It means that 57.87% of the candidates from are colony have died between now and when they were chosen. look!"he said pushing a small stack of printed papers into my hand. I looked over the papers and saw that a little over half of the names on all the papers said "deceased" next to them. I quickly tried to do the math in my head and if I rounded some I had 58% close enough to what Simon had.This caused the full impact of the ,documents before me, to finally sink in.

"Does this mean The Challenge could kill us. Not necessarily on purpose but maybe on accident or did all the deceased,. die after their Challenge days were over."I asked. "I don't know find the page that has my brother's name on it and I will do my best to answer that question."He said. I quickly flipped through the pages skimming for the name of Edan Blake I found it on the seventh page of ten and next to it it said something I had yet to see next to any other name "Unknown". I slowly told Simon "Well here is his name look for yourself what it says. His name is the only name I see "unknown" next to. Do you think he found something out he wasn't supposed to and ran off to save his own skin or was killed and not reported." "I just don't know what is going on here any more but it is something big."He said.
