Chapter 20

Aragorn's POV

Legolas, Gimli, and I stood on the bank and watched the boat holding Boromir drift towards the waterfall. I adjusted Boromir's armbraces on myself as the boat disappeared over the edge.

"Hurry!" Legolas began pushing a boat into the water. "Frodo and Sam have reached the eastern shore." He paused and looked at me when I said nothing. "You mean not to follow them?"

"Frodo's fate is no longer in our hands." I explained.

"Then it has all been in vain!" Gimli motions to the falls. "The Fellowship has failed."

I walked to them both and placed a hand on their shoulders. "Not if we hold true to each other. We will not abandon Merry and Pippin to torment and death. Not while we have strength left." I turned and sheath a knife and made sure Mryna's necklace was secured around my neck. "Leave all that can be spared behind. We travel light. Let us hunt some orc."

Gimli and Legolas look at each other before grinning. Gimli laughs and exclaims, "yes!"

I take off into the woods, hoping that Myrna is safe and leaving some kind of trail.

Nicole's POV

I sigh as I reach the pool below the falls and find Boromir's horn, cloven in two. "May you rest well, Boromir, son of Denathor."

I picked up the horn and put it in my pack before whistling. I waited before seeing Azur and Zara galloping towards me. I steady both and load my pack onto Azur before turning to Zara. "Myrna is not with me. Find Shadowfax and stay with him. "I patted her side and watched her take off before mounting Azur. "May we meet again, my sister, my friend, my Queen." Azur snorted before letting me lead him to where I need to be.

Myrna's POV

I sighed as I ran across the plains. I paused briefly to examine tracks before sticking an arrow in the ground. I caught my breath before taking off again. I don't plan on letting Merry and Pippin slip away from me. As night fell, I paused to look at the stars. I smile as I see a small cluster of stars shining brighter than the others. Twelve of them, in the shape of a mountain.

"We will meet again, my friends. That's a promise." I placed a hand over my heart before going after the Uruks again. "Hold on Merry and Pippin. I'm on my way.

Frodo's POV

Sam and I reached the top of the hill. As I looked at the horizon, I could see it.

"Mordor." I tell Sam. "I hope the others find a safer route."

"Strider will look after them." Sam tells me.

"I don't suppose we'll ever see them again."

"We may yet, Mister Frodo. We may."

I smile and turn to Sam. "Sam, I'm glad you're with me."

With that, I turn back and walk forward down the rocky slop, beginning our trek towards Mordor.

And that ends the The Fellowship of the Ring. Chapter one for Two Towers will be posted next week!
