The Closing

All of a sudden everything froze. I looked around and I could hear all the noises around me, but when I spoke it seemed like no one could hear or see me. Only a few seconds later was when a loud sharp ringing sound filled the air, but as soon as it stopped I saw people beginning to stare at me. So I assumed that they could at least see me, but they soon walked away. Only one person came up to me and asked me if I was ok.

As the stranger helped me up from the ground I said, "Is it January 1, 2010?"

Then the stranger said, "Why yes, it is. And are you sure you are ok?"

I got up and said, "Yes, thank you very much. Bye!"

Once I had been running for a few minutes I finally realized that I didn't know where my house was at from where the time machine had "dropped" me off at. So I stopped once again and asked a random person for directions. After that I knew where I was and took a few turns, kept running and in about fifteen minutes later I reached my neighborhood.

When I got to my house I realized that there would be a younger me inside. Well I sat down around the corner from my house and thought, 'well if I walk up to the door and act like one of my sister's friends from school maybe I could sneak the medicine in my mom's food or something.'

Of course that didn't happen, I knocked on the door and no one came, so I tried to open the door and luckily it was unlocked. As I walked in I saw that my family was all sitting there watching TV, but they seemed like they couldn't see or hear me, again. I stood there and thought well maybe since I'm part of their future I won't be able to speak to them, but as soon as it even processed through my head, there came that ringing noise.

Only my dad had realized that I was there, and luckily my mom and sister didn't see my dad coming toward something that was probably invisible to them. He turned around and told them he was going to go get the mail, and as he said that I sensed that he wanted to go outside and talk.

We both walked outside over to where the cars were parked. He stared at me for a few minutes then I finally told him who I was, started to tell him what was going on, and what my plan was.

After I was done I said, "You need to trust me, because if we wait any longer there will be no chance to go back and save her."

Then he said to me, "Well just stay out hear and I'll go tell her that it's a new medicine that the doctor recommended."

He went back inside and gave her the pill. It should only take one pill to do the job, but it takes about a week to cure her. So I stayed in the basement till the seventh day, when that day came I went upstairs and my dad came running over to me and said that the medicine had worked! I was so happy and I knew I had done the right thing. All of my worrying was for nothing, but it suddenly came back when I tried to go back to my present time.

When I went back to the spot I had been "dropped" off at, the time machine wasn't there, nothing even indicating that there ever was a time machine there. Then I looked over to the left and there was a note. It read, 'You are now stuck in the past until the past catches up to your present time.' I was freaking out I didn't know what else to do but to go back to my house and just wait, ten years.

As the time went by I saw my younger self grow up in a totally different way than I had grown up before, but it was very intriguing to see. After a long ten years my seventeenth birthday had finally come in the past, my present, but the place my younger self went to for my birthday didn't change. I had still gone to the University of NASA, but with the whole family this time my mom, dad, sister, and I.

Then all of a sudden all of the rainbows of colors came back and a few seconds later I was back at the university in the room where the time machine was being revealed. The exact place I had just left, but the younger me wasn't there. Just me and my whole family.

Then my dad glanced over at me and said, "I'm glad you did what I thought you were thinking."

At that point I knew, somehow, he knew what I had done.
