Gideon traced his finger across the rain-streaked window of his seat on the Speedy Gopher, a bus taking him straight to Gravity Falls.

It was an early, foggy, rainy morning and he was sitting while continuously doodling on the window to his heart's content. The doodles had began with a little UFO and had now grown into a mini galaxy complete with an astronaut floating in the center. Gideon didn't consider himself an artist, but he had to admit he was proud of his work.

When there was no longer any room left on the window, Gideon turned back to face the back of the chair in front of him. He was the only person on the bus, which was no surprise. Who would want to visit a practical ghost town in the middle of nowhere?

On top of that, Gideon wondered why his dad wanted to live there at all. If Bud Gleeful hadn't decided to pack his bags that one night and leave their small, quiet suburban neighborhood in northern California, Gideon wouldn't have to be here. He was currently tired
from having to get the bus at 5 in the morning and bored out of his mind.

The bus screeched to a halt and the doors folded open. Gideon sighed, hoisted his backpack over his shoulder, grabbed his suitcase and stepped off the bus without bothering to exchange goodbyes with the driver. It's not like they had spoken to each other during the long drive anyways.

The rain was pouring much harder than Gideon had originally thought. What had started out as a drizzle had turned into a near storm.

Gideon lifted the hood of his dark green Piedmont High Ducks sweatshirt and bolted for a nearby coffee shop with an awning hanging over the patio.

He took his phone, which was down to having 30 percent on battery, and checked a recent message from his dad.

Sorry, kiddo
I'm stuck at work so you're gonna have to hang around while I finish up my post
I'm sending you the address - Dad

Gideon heaved another sigh, adjusted his backpack and headed back out into the rain.
The address his dad had sent him wasn't too far away from the coffee shop. He only had to walk maybe three blocks before finally arriving at a pair of tall gates with a glowing blue sign that read The Mystery Fair: Gravity Falls' Greatest Attraction.

In the center of the gates was a broken down ticket booth. As Gideon passed by, he wouldn't have been surprised to see a skeleton slumped over in the empty salesman's seat, with a pair of tickets clutched between his bony fingers.

After walking around inside, Gideon noticed that the Mystery Fair wasn't just one attraction, but basically one giant tourist trapped built out of smaller attractions. Altogether, this place was a strange world full of strange acts, cheap roller coasters, and the overwhelming scent of fried foods.

Gideon looked around for some sort of shelter. He spotted an empty diner-themed hotdog stand and jogged over to a table with a large umbrella.

After pausing to look around at his surroundings for a bit, Gideon had just realized  that the Mystery Fair was completely void of people. He had at least suspected to see workers sweeping the floors of their booths or restocking games, but so far there was nothing.
Was the fair completely abandoned?

Gideon turned and peeked over the counter of the hotdog stand, and sure enough there was only cobwebs and dust.

Did dad send me the wrong address?
