"Hey Dex." I said coming into his office. As usual he was at his desk doing something on the computer.
"Oh hey Grace. What's up?" He asked, his eyes still in the computer screen.
"Well I have to talk to you. I need help." I said shutting the door and sitting beside him on another chair.
"Spill." He said
"I think Doakes is gonna ask me out on a date." I said with my eyebrows furrowed together.
"What makes you say that?" Dexter Reacted with a smile on his face.
"Because I fucking heard him say that to LeGuarta." I said putting my hands through my hair.
"Can't you just say no?" Dexter said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Have you seen the guy Dex? He will never take no for an answer and the worse thing is he intimidates me because whenever I'm around he has this weird expression on his face."
"Maybe he's in love." Dexter said teasing me. I hit his arm and he laughs.
"This isn't funny." I said
"What do you want me to do? They guy hates me."
"I know but If I'm taken then he can't ask me out." I said with a pleading smile. I was basically asking Dexter to be my fake boyfriend.
"Grace. I just broke up with Rita, I don't know if I can-"
"Shut up. I'm not asking you out. I'm just asking you to have my back like a partner should. It won't be for long just a week or two." I said holding on to his arm.
Dexter sighed. "You owe me big time." He said and I started squealing and hugged him. To be truthful I was so intimidated by Doakes because he would never say anything to me, he would always send a messenger, and I know that I would probably say yes if he asked me in a date so I needed control.
I mean Doakes was any girls dream guy but he reminded me of my ex and I didn't need to go there.

"You want a cup grace?" Angel asked holding the coffee.
"Please." I said massaging my temples.
"You alright?" Angel asked handing me the coffee. I took a sip then leaned on the cafeteria counter.
"Yeah. Just had a late night." I said. Angel smiled then raised his eyebrows wanting the truth. In the little time I've been here I've grown close to three people. Dexter, Angel and Debra.
"Doakes." Was all I said and Abgel started laughing.
"What?" I asked hitting his arm.
"You do know everyone in the homocide team knows." Angel said putting his hand in my shoulder, pretending to sympathise but smiling.
"Well I can't." I said
"Why not?" My blood went cold. I turned around and saw the body to the deep voice. Doakes with his arms crossed over his toned chest.
"I'm w-with Dexter." I said standing a little straighter. I heard Angel choking over his coffee beside me. That's what you get! But the worst part was Doakes face. It went from pure shock to confusion to anger.
"Why the fuck are you with that psycho?" He said
"Watch how you talk about him or else there'll be a serious problem between us." I said walking away. I stood up for Dexter as a friend but I see how that helped people think we're a thing. I stormed towards Deb desk aka near the elevator.
"Grace." I turned around to see Dexter jogging towards me.
"Yeah?" I asked but before we could say another word Dexter crushed his lips against mine. I opened my mouth and let his tongue enter my mouth. His hands had a tight grip on my waist and the back of my neck. Dexter parted the kiss and looked down at me.
"Pick you up at 6:00." He said before leaving inside the elevator. I turned around to see everyone in the office staring at me. Angel and Deb had smiles on their faces and I could see Debs shock. But Doakes looked like he was about to use his special ops training on me any second. Oh shit.
