I'm just gonna cut straight to the point here. YOI's creator is awful.
The creator is homophobic:

Translation: "I saw Arietty! In front of the theater I saw a male couple holding hands. Keep that in Nichoume (Tokyo gay district) please!"
I'm not even gonna focus on their homophobic fetishization of gay men at this point. The fact is that the creator isn't some sort of "pioneer for gay rights".
They're basically one of those people who enjoys yaoi but doesn't like to see gay people in real life. I basically see this tweet as expressing an ideology that gay people are somehow better or more acceptable when quarantined to their own districts, or just to fiction.
And even if you pass it off as "They were just joking!", their joke does not exist in a vacuum. It's not like they make the joke totally independent of outside influences. The homophobia here is still present in the way I described above.
The creator makes jokes about sexual assault:

Translation: "If I was in a crowded train where everyone else except me was Jeremy Abbott, I would definitely molest him even if I got caught."
Molestation isn't something "cute" or "quirky" to joke about. Woman-on-man sexual assault is no joke. And actually, this isn't even just a "joke". She literally said that she would molest someone. That's a dangerous and harmful thing to say. And if you are a friend of mine, you will know that this is not something you can possibly defend to me.
That's a literal threat to molest someone. Saying "I would molest them" is a literal threat to molest someone regardless of if it's a "joke". Saying "I would molest them IF GIVEN THE CHANCE WHICH WOULD NEVER HAPPEN LOL" is still a threat.
And it's a threat which Jeremy Abbott could take to court. He'd have a solid case.
"But she studied really hard to make this show!" I respect that. I respect the amount of research that goes into a story. But if I researched orca whales for years, then straight-up said I wanted to molest one, I'd still obviously be in the wrong.
I'm not sharing this to spite people. I'm not sharing this because my friends and I dislike YOI. I'm sharing this because this woman will hurt somebody. She is unrepentant about the tweet and still believes this is okay to do.
Male fans of the show, and hell, male ice skaters in general: stay away from her, please. She doesn't see the problem with her actions and something bad will happen. And MLM, I suggest just staying miles away from her in general. But don't keep it in Nichoume. <3
