Tonight and for the next 5 nights we are going to change gears a little bit. We have spent the last few nights covering the gifts of the Spirit found in 1 Corinthians. Now we're going to switch over and talk about the 6 gifts of the Spirit (excluding prophecy) found in the book of Romans. Tonight will be servitude.
There's not many places in the Bible that specifically mentions servitude, but let's be real, servitude is 99% of the Bible. In fact, Jesus was the greatest servant of them all. He spent all 33 and a half years of His life serving everyone and then ended His earthly life serving everyone by dying for their sins. Now, if that's not servitude I don't know what is.
Point blank, we are called to serve. "Sitting down [to teach], He called the twelve [disciples] and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all [in importance] and a servant of all.”
MARK 9:35 AMP
That is as simple and as complicated as it gets. That's all it is.You may ask, "Taylor. How on earth am I suppose to serve. I'm just me." That's just it. You are you and God uniquely created you to serve in a unique way. I once (once as in 5 minutes ago) read a quote by Lisa Bevere, "we are to live in support of others and grant opportunity to the disadvantaged and not take advantage of others" and about two paragraphs later she said, "perhaps the longing within you is larger than you know how to put into words and thus the very reason you need a sword." Lisa hit the nail on the head; if you can't find the place in which you are to serve and how you are supposed to serve, it's because God created it just for you and it has never been done...YET.
Heavenly Father, I just pray that You will reveal the place of servitude to everyone reading this. Not only that but I pray that You will equip them with all they need to serve. I pray you will qualify them. After all you qualify the called, you don't call the qualified. That's not how all of this works, it's not that simple. So I just pray Your awesome guidance all over everyone reading this. In Christ's precious and Holy Name I pray, amen.
