What is teaching? According to Merriam Webster teaching is, "ideas or principles taught by an authority." So what is teaching in the context of a spiritual gift?
Titus chapter 2 verses 7-8 say, "and in everything set them an example yourself by doing what is good. When you are teaching, have integrity and be serious; let everything you say be so wholesome that an opponent will be put to shame because he will have nothing bad to say about us." CJB
So basically in the context of the Holy Spirit we need to be wholesome people of integrity who lead by example. We can talk, and talk, and talk, but all that talk really means nothing if we're not living out what we are saying. We have to lead by example. If we're saying one thing and doing another then we are not going to be taken seriously. We will be laughed at and mocked.
In the book of 1 Peter chapter 4 verses 10 and 12 it says, "according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God; if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; if any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen." ASV
Whatever God has gifted us to do, we must do it, and if we don't do it someone else will. Simple as that. John Bevere says, each of us have been uniquely purposed by God and if we don't fulfill our destiny someone else will (paraphrased because I don't have my journal on hand.)
When we teach we need to teach a solid doctrine of the complete truth. We need to present ourselves in the best way possibly and glorify God in all we do. 2 Timothy 2:15 says, "do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker, who does not need to be ashamed, and who correctly handles the word of truth. NIV"
Father, I just pray that You will help each of us to be good stewards and glorify Your name. Just speak life into us. Pour into us so we can pour out. Amen
