Back to J's POV

You know that moment, when you realise you've fucked up?

Yup, well I've finally had one.

After exiting the stuffy Starbucks, I headed towards the subway station in my clunky Doc Martens. A wide smile graced my lips and I was content... Happy even.
I know stealing wallets definitely wasn't something to be proud of, but with a record like mine, a job wasn't easy to get. Taking a little from the rich was easier than getting rejection letter after rejection letter. Forcing my guilt behind me, I reached into my pocket to see just how much I got from the stereotypical chick.

I'm guessing at least $100...

Chuckling to myself I pulled out the hard plastic cover, but my laughter quickly stopped after my mind accessed just what I was holding onto.

This wasn't an expensive wallet, this was... an iPhone?

Taking a shaky breath, I quickly wiped my sweaty palms on my ripped jeans. Keeping my head down, I began running down the stairs to my station.

Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck.
Mark's gonna kill me.
Dani's gonna kill me.

Consumed in my thoughts, the 20 minute wait passed in what felt like seconds. After grabbing a seat on the dingy train, I pulled my hoodie back up, and began thinking of ideas.

Maybe I could sell the phone?
How much were iPhones even worth?
Was this a 6 or something?

J had never cared for the 'finer' things in life and didn't have a clue what brands were a big deal, and what an iPad even was.

Wanting a distraction, J hastily put his earphones in his ears and reached into his pockets to grab his phone.
Music would help, it always did.

But the more he searched his pockets, the more frantic he became.

Oh god.

Sighing deeply, he rubbed his calloused hands against his face.

How much worse could his day get?

Just as this thought crossed his mind, 'I'm a Barbie Girl' began playing extremely loud.
Looking around angrily J looked for the source of that sound.

Who the fuck even listened to AQUA anymore?

An irritated man stared back at J as he searched the room, and the old lady sitting next to him moved a couple of seats over, clearly wanting her distance. He was confused at that movement, but ignored her regardlessly as he tried to find the source of the irritating music.

"You go baby!" A teenage boy shouted at J while his friends jeered.

Realisation dawned on J as he quickly scrambled to grab the thin electronic from his hoodie pocket.

"Um, yeah, Hello? Who is this?" J muttered harshly into the receiver.

"Well, look who decided to answer my phone," said an angry but calm voice.

Oh shit, oh shit, I am so dead.

"Uh.. I'm sorry, who is this?" J said, scrambling for a good excuse.

"It's the girl from Starbucks. You know, it's bad manners to not remember a girls name," she tsked. "And it's even worse that I spent a good 10 minutes putting up with your bad survey and bad flirting skills just to be mugged," she carried on angrily.

But before she could continue, J's anger rose.
"Just who do you think you are, Miss... Mani? Is that your name, sorry I forgot," J spat venomously into the phone.

"It's Dani, you assho-"

"Ahh I see, Lani," Josh said temporarily stopping her from speaking. "Well you just insulted my flirting skills, but I don't think they were that bad if you let me take 10 minutes of your time, steal your phone, AND take a sip of your drink while you weren't looking!" J said proudly.

"You stole some of my drink??" Dani's voice was now 3 octaves higher and her calm tone was gone. "What if you have an STD or um mouth disease or something??!"

Laughing heartedly, J warmed up to the fiesty girl. "Well, Dani. It was nice talking to you, but I got rent money to find, we'll talk later 'kay?"

"But what about my ph-"

"Shhhh babe, we'll talk about the later," J said before ending the call.

All in a day's work I guess, huh.
