He didn't even look human

His skin was far too smooth
his smile far too knowing
and curved

His body was not noticeably beautiful
only upon intense scrutiny did you understand
the defined cheekbones
willowy, graceful figure
broad shoulders, but not in the normal sense

Nothing was normal with him

Glacial, blue eyes
which always appeared to be simultaneously
freezing from the ice inside his body
and melting from the heat of his smile

In his impish demeanour
he was perfect
so unruly
it appeared orchestrated

He befriended shadows
and frightened away the sun
he was acquainted with the inner mechanics
of the human condition

He was an enigma
