Lynn/Lyndsey's P.O.V (Pick of Lynn above)
I trudged through the rainy winters evening with my bag slung over my shoulder. Walking back from dance to our small apartment where I lived with my elder brother Andy, Mum and Dad.
The rain picked up beating harshly against my hood, the rain getting in my face caused my make up to stream down my face,  fan-fucking-tastic! I turned on to our street and walked as quickly as I could, the orange street lights providing just enough light to see ahead. It was 7:15pm, normally anyone who had been caught up in the rush hour traffic would be speeding down here by now, not tonight. Hardly anyone was out even though it wasn't that late. I step up on to the door steps as we lived on the second floor. I rang the buzzer that put me through to our flat.

"Who is it?" A male voice asks through the speaker.

"It's me, Andy, Please let me in, it's fucking freezing out here." I reply before I hear the familiar buzzer which signals the release of the front door for me to enter the building. I walked up the stairs until I came to apartment number; 32B and shove my key into the lock hastily before I open the front door to be greeted by my brother staring blankly out the window, Mum playing with her fingers in her lap and Dad looking at me with a sort of... grimace? Have I done something wrong?

"Lynn, sit down, we need to talk." Dad said trying to smile but failing miserably. I looked confused for a moment before I hung up my coat, took off my boots and perched on the sofa beside Andy, who by now, was looking at me with the same grimace as Dad.

"Lynn, do you remember me saying that I couldn't find any work in the area?" Dad asks now looking normal.

"Yes..." I reply unsure about where this was going.

"Well I've found a job but-" Andy cuts him off before he can finish.

"It's in fucking New York." Andy spits with spite at Dad as well as giving me time to process the information I had just received. Once Andy and Dad had silenced themselves I gave an answer.

"W-what?" I ask completely bewildered. "And you took the job!" I say now furious. "I've barley ever stared sixth form, all my friends are here, all my family is here and now you want to whisk us off to New York!? No! I'm not going! I'm staying here!" I yell standing up.

"I'm with Lynn." Andy says placing a hand on my shoulder as he stands beside me. "This isn't fair on either of us, Lynn just started sixth form and I just started uni. You can't suddenly take us away from that!" A loud thunder clap caused me to jump slightly as the lighting flashed across the sky.

"There are better schools and universities in New York." States Mum, finally speaking up, of course taking Dads side as per usual.

"Mum you can't seriously be considering this!" Andy and I yell in unison.

"We need the money, now go and start packing we leave in three days time." Mum says before leaving to the kitchen to start dinner, once Mum says something's final, it's final. Andy and I stomp to our room, (which we had to share because like I said it was a very small apartment) once there I kick the door open and punch the wall above my bed, causing the wall to shake slightly and my knuckles start to bleed and bruises immediately. Andy kicks the bed frame a few times before sitting on it and looking around the room taking in the surroundings as if to burn it into his memory forever.

"New York." I sigh pushing my back against the wall and sliding down it until my knees are hugged up against my chest, my damp fringe now clinging to my forehead.

"I know." he sighs too before we start packing.

Half hour time skip brought to you by my laziness XD

Dinner was very quiet and awkward that night. No banta between me and Andy, no jokes between mum and dad, nothing but an eerie silence which seemed to engulf the room. I washed up the plates in silence as Andy dried and put away the crockery. Once that was done I went to bed, closing my eyes, so many thoughts rushing through my mind as I fall asleep.
