"Obedience, noun. Compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another's authority. This is the fundamental structure of the average life of a Flightless. Without obedience, the culture of the Flightless wouldn't exist as it is today." Sapphire slammed the textbook onto the wooden table of the school library as she finished reading the words.

"That's it! I can't take it! Culture of the Flightless? We don't even have free time for hobbies! When did we started having a culture?!" She shouted, shooting up in her ancient cushioned seat, eyes shooting daggers at the wrinkled cover of the brown book, hands on her hips.

Pairs of eyes immediately glanced over, more startled than annoyed at the loud noise, a mousy girl in the next table made a shushing sound towards Sapphire. "Be quiet, the Sisters might hear!" She said in a low voice, eyes darting toward the closed door of the library. Several students sitting next to them quickly glanced back to their books at the girl's warning.

Sapphire's chest rose at her heavy breathing. "What are you so afraid of? There are only three of them! There's hundreds of us, we can overpower them easily! We should protest and—" A hand was smashed against her mouth before she can finish her enraged ramble. The mousy girl's eyes has widened with fear at the beginning of her speech, other students ducked their heads ever lower behind their books, their useless wings tucked closer to their body in the nervous tension. Someone had let out a little squeak from behind her.

"Sorry, sorry." A familiar masculine voice behind her apologized solemnly. "She hasn't taken her medications today. A high fever yesterday and all that." Sapphire struggled to push away from the hand, turning her head around to glare at the owner of the voice.

The emerald eyes of Chaos Chandler stared back warningly "I will only let you go if you promise to shut up." He hissed, grabbing at her struggling hands. "Do you want to get all of us into trouble?"

Sapphire glared at her best friend, jerking her hands out of his grip in protest. She shoved him away, which was surprisingly easy since he making no effort to restrain her, and plopped down on the chair again, arms crossed.

"I thought you would agree with me." She grumbled, coming to her senses once the angry rage dies away. "The rules of the Winged is so unfair and irritating and—"

Chaos sat down on the chair next to her, running his fingers through his tousled hair as he interrupted her again. "I do agree with you; everyone does in some ways. However, they're not as idiotic as you to shout it while being surrounded by trained Winged Mages." He took a deep sigh of exasperation."Sapphire, you've got to control your urges. Ever since you were admitted into this school, you've been on all of the Sisters' 'naughty list'. They will never let you graduate by the end of this year at this rate."

"Maybe I don't want to graduate." Sapphire muttered, slunking in her seat, hating the way Chaos can easily make her feel guilty and stupid. The dark haired boy with the mysterious background had been one of her only friends in this godforsaken school filled to the brim with useless Flightless who do not even know how to fight back. When she first met him, she detested him at first, hating the fact that he can accept everything with a pleasing eagerness, no matter that she knows it was faked. The way that he also understands everything also never fails to irritate her.

"Because you're planning on staying here forever, in this little bubble that protects you from a life of servitude? Forget it Saph, they will kick you out one day. It's better to leave on your own accordance." Chaos guessed her thoughts effortlessly, scrutinizing her with narrowed green eyes.
