NO ONE EVER LISTENS
THIS WALLPAPER GLISTENSTHE TWO WALKED IN SILENCE. Paul, or Jesus, had tried to start a conversation multiple times. Maria wasn't having it though. All she wanted to do was get to this 'Hilltop'. Jesus walked slightly ahead of her, always keeping her updated on how much further. She never asked, nor did she say anything back to him.
"Just around this corner." He says to her finally. Her heart skips a beat, slightly scared. She knew it was for the best, to check it out. She knew that if it was real, and safe that she should stay. Maria was scared of trusting these people though. Scared of trusting Paul, and everyone else that was at this Hilltop. She didn't want to get attached as well.
It was because every time she got attached, she would lose them. It was always crossing her mind on how people leave. How people die no matter what in this new world.
"Here it is." Paul says, starting Maria slighting. She had been looking at the ground the whole time, not paying attention. As she looked up, her eyes widened.
Large walls stood in front of her, people standing on wooden towers, on guard. Maria stopped in her tracks, her eyes squinting. She was still skeptical about this place, knowing that they could still be bad people.
Paul turns and looks at her, a small smile on his face.
"It's okay, we aren't bad people." He says to her. She glances at him then the walls to the wall once again. It was hard to believe to her, that someone, some people, had made this. That this had been here, and was supposably keeping people safe.
Maria nodded, and began to walk again. As they get up to the gate, the guards hold their spears out as they notice Maria.
"Who is that Jesus?!" One of them yells. Maria snorts slightly from where she stood. Paul turns to her slightly, then back to his people.
"Found her, I want her to check out the place. Meet Gregory, and possibly stay." He says to the guards, They nod their heads, as the door begins to open.
Maria steps back slightly, furrowing her eyebrows together. Her head tilts as a large building comes to view on a hilltop.
Paul had turned to see her reaction, slightly taken back by it. She didn't look excited, more confused. Her confusion confused himself, as no ones reaction had been like hers.
"Welcome to Hilltop." He says, his arm moving to show the view. Paul begins to slowly walk in, but stops when he doesn't hear any footsteps behind him. Turning, he noticed Maria in the same spot. She held her knife tightly in her hand, tighter than she had been when they walked near walkers. It was as if she was more afraid of people, than the dead.
"You can come in." Paul says to her, snapping her out of her trance. She jumps slightly, reverting her eyes to the man. He stood past the doors, waiting for her to follow. Sighing, Maria made her way in.
Everyone turns and looks at her, shock across their faces. She looks among the people, squinting her eyes.
"What's everyone's problem here?" Maria quietly asked Paul, when she caught up to walk next to him. He looks at her then everyone else, a sigh escaping his lips.
"There not used to new people, nor people covered in blood." He says to her softly. She looks at him confused, the looks down at herself. She was disgusted, cause that was living now. Dirt and blood would cost your skin if you were really living in this world.
Maria scoffed at the people, a dirty look spread across her face as she looked at them. Paul began walking away, but stopped when he heard a voice.
